The only tour you should be doing! - We loved this tour and thought everything was timed perfectly. Going to give you a rundown bc I didn’t see more info on Viator but here’s a rough agenda: 1. Starting at 8 am you and other get picked up from hotels 2. Drive about an hour out to the plantation while hearing cool facts about New Orleans from the driver 3. Arrive to the Whitney plantation (imo, the only plantation that anyone should be going to) 4. Get picked up about an hour and a half later to get lunch at a small cafe 5. Get driven to the swamp tour! It’s a pontoon boat so not as noisy as the airboats? 6. Be done around 2:40 and drive back to your hotel which takes about 30-40 min I definitely think this one was the best. I didn’t try the other ones but I saw a lot were advertising airboat swamp tours which are incredibly noisy and also not shaded (no roof). Couldn’t imagine doing an airboat one, not only would I have melted as it was over 90 degrees, but I also wouldn’t have gotten to see as much wildlife bc of the noise. And, I believe that the Whitney plantation, of all the plantations in Louisiana, has the most respectful and most accurate telling of slavery and the stories of the enslaved. It truly makes you think about how much truth we missed out on in school. Take a day out of your New Orleans trip to do THIS particular tour if you want to do a plantation + swamp tour. The Whitney plantation is by far the most impactful experience I’ve had at a museum. Swamp tour was fun too—you get to learn a lot about alligators and the parish you’re in

A bundle of great experiences made easy. - Both the Whitney Plantation and Swamp Tour were outstanding experiences. The Whitney told a difficult story in a meaningful, personal, and enlightening way. It blended factual information, words and recordings of formerly enslaved people, and artistic interpretation to guide the visitor through the Plantation and lead them to personal discovery and reflection. The Swamp Tour was just plain fun. The guide from N'awlins Luxury Tours made sure we were comfortable, on time, and well taken care of. give With 21 years experience, she blended sightseeing knowledge and expertise with her own personal stories and experiences to give a terrific overview of New Orleans. The door to door transportation in the comfortable mini-bus made the day easy and memorable.

Three greats! - We had a fill in driver but he was kind and welcoming and never felt nervous with his driving. The Whitney itself I enjoyed very much, based on my research it focused more on slave life than the families of the households and that’s what I wanted to learn about. The pontoon boat tour was a blast. Wild ride.

Black Queen Approved - This trip was such a great opportunity. I have already started spreading the word to family and friends. The bus ride with Mrs. D was very informative. If you are looking to look at some real history visit the Whitney plantation and if you want to enjoy a great boat ride and while on the boat eat some really good shrimp and I mean good shrimp go on a pontoon boat ride. I loved our captain!

Overwhelming - The whole thing I have never been to a plantation I am 43 years old. I have family that lives in Louisiana to see the things that slaves had to go back. It’s crazy I may be in a black woman. It hurt me to my core to see the things that children and women had to go through at that time, I cried the whole tour

Whitney Plantation and pontoon swamp tour - The Whitney Plantation focuses on the lives of enslaved people and was an invaluable educational experience. The individual audio tour was well done and ensures you don’t miss anything. We enjoyed a nice lunch prior to our swamp tour. My grilled shrimp Poboy was the best I had while in New Orleans. My sons crab cakes were also delicious! Our swamp tour was very nice. However, we were on a pontoon boat when I very specifically signed up for an airboat. There were three options, pontoon boat, medium and high speed air boat. Not sure what happened there, but was a bit disappointing. We did see a lot of gators on our trip, including the big one, Winky, but was hoping for a little more. Luck of the draw, I know. Overall, would highly recommend the tours. It was a great day and we all learned a lot.

Great Tour - Visiting the Whitney Plantation was a truly educational experience. Very moving. Our country needs more places like this to learn about history that has been erased.

Mixed review - This was an interesting day but a lot of driving. We went in March so weather was cooler, imagine the swamp could be uncomfortable in the height of summer. The plantation was interesting but our guided tour started late and with the time restriction to get back on the bus we had to miss half of the tour. Our guide had a very strong southern accent so was difficult to understand at times. I would recommend getting the self guided tour so you make sure to see everything. We stopped at Oak Valley plantation for refreshments and kind of wished we had gone to that instead. I thought the swamp tour would be in a more swampy area if that makes sense, it was basically canal ways leading to a lake. Saw loads of alligators but no other wildlife really. Thought the tour guide was off by talking about how you hunt, skin and demeat an alligator when you are seeing these magnificent animals! The driver of the bus was great.
