Vossevangen - Voss is a municipality and a traditional district located in Vestland county, Norway. The village of Vossevangen serves as the administrative center of the municipality. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes, and fast-flowing whitewater rivers, Vossevangen has become a renowned hub for skiing, water sports, skydiving, paragliding, and other adventure activities. Each year, during the last week of June, the area hosts the Extreme Sports Week, recognized as the world’s leading extreme sports festival. Bømoen, the local airstrip, houses Skydive Voss, one of Norway’s largest dropzones, along with a gliding club. The rivers offer various levels of white water, attracting kayaking, rafting, and river boarding enthusiasts. Kite surfing and para-bungee are popular on Lake Vangsvatnet. The ski area, located north of the town, is accessible via the Hangursbanen cable car.

Skjervsfossen Waterfall - Skjervsfossen is a large and stunning waterfall located not far from Voss. It features two major drops, with a total height of 150 meters. The most impressive part is the upper section at the parking area, which boasts a single drop of 60 meters.
-
Hardanger Bridge - The Hardanger Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Hardangerfjord, connecting the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik. It replaced a ferry service between Bruravik and Brimnes, thereby reducing the driving time between Oslo and Bergen. As the longest suspension bridge in Norway, it measures 1,380 meters (4,530 ft) in length, with a main span of 1,310 meters (4,300 ft).
-
Voringsfoss - Vøringsfossen waterfall ranks as the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway based on total fall. Situated at the top of the Måbødalen valley in the municipality of Eidfjord, it has a total drop of 182 meters (597 ft), with a major drop of 163 meters (534 ft). It is perhaps Norway’s most famous waterfall and a significant tourist attraction on the route from Hardangervidda to Hardangerfjord.
-
Eidfjord - Eidfjord is located at the end of the Eid Fjord, an inner branch of the expansive Hardangerfjord. The village of Eidfjord is a prominent cruise ship port of call. It offers several tourist attractions, such as the Sima Power Plant, which is built into the mountain, the Måbødalen valley, and the Vøringsfossen waterfall. Large portions of the Hardangervidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau, are situated in Eidfjord. The Hardangervidda Natursenter, a visitor center and museum for Hardangervidda National Park, is located in Øvre Eidfjord.
The 1,498-square-kilometer (578 sq mi) municipality ranks as the 57th largest by area out of Norway’s 356 municipalities. Eidfjord is the 337th most populous municipality in Norway, with a population of 962.
-
Hardanger Fjord - The Hardangerfjord is the fourth longest fjord in the world and the second longest in Norway. It stretches 179 kilometers (111 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean into Norway’s mountainous interior along the Hardangervidda plateau. The innermost point of the fjord reaches the town of Odda. The fjord’s history extends beyond its Viking past, dating back to the time of hunters in the surrounding mountains and later farming in this fertile area, now known as the “fruit orchard of Norway.” The fjord later became a major tourist destination, and in 1875, Thomas Cook initiated weekly cruise departures from London to the Hardangerfjord, drawn by its spectacular nature, glaciers, and grand waterfalls.
-
Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall - Steinsdalsfossen is one of Norway’s most popular waterfalls. The river Fosselvi cascades down 48 meters and is unique because visitors can walk behind the water veil. The river’s flow is consistent, fed by a series of lakes, including Myklavatnet. Steinsdalsfossen gained popularity over a century ago, during the time of German Emperor Wilhelm II, who visited annually until World War II. Interestingly, the waterfall is not very old; in the 17th century, the river flowed west of Steinsdalsfossen. In 1699, “Øvsthus farm suffered great damage when the river flooded its banks.” The old river channel was closed off, possibly due to heavy snow or an avalanche, causing the water to flow off the cliff instead.
