Reaching the Cultural Capital of Europe
Buzludzha Monument - At 9:00, we will depart from your hotel or accommodation in Sofia and embark on a scenic journey along a winding road beside the Central Balkan Mountain. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the natural beauty and Revival period villages, passing through the renowned Rose Valley. You’ll see the rose fields, and if the season is right, they’ll be in full bloom with fragrant flowers. Our main destination is the iconic Buzludzha Monument, known for its UFO-like shape. This remarkable structure symbolizes a bygone era, and we’ll provide you with as much information as possible about those times. The site also offers stunning views of the valley below. On our descent, we’ll pass through the famous archaeological area known as the Valley of the Thracian Kings. We’ll stop in Kazanlak to visit some of the most notable burial tombs from the 4th century BC. After lunch in town, we’ll continue our journey to Plovdiv.
Plovdiv Old Town - After descending from the mountain, we’ll head to Plovdiv, one of the world’s oldest cities and the Cultural Capital of Europe. Our afternoon will be spent exploring the Roman theatre, Roman stadium, Revival period Bulgarian houses, and more. In the evening, you can relax in the area known as “The Trap,” which is filled with charming restaurants and bars.

Getting back to Sofia
Borovets - After breakfast, we’ll visit any sites we missed on the first day. Then, we’ll begin our journey back to Sofia, avoiding the highway in favor of more interesting winding roads. We’ll reach Borovets, Bulgaria’s oldest ski resort, where we’ll have lunch before continuing to Sofia. Our route will take us past one of the largest and most beautiful water reservoirs. The guided tour concludes at Alexander Nevski Cathedral in Sofia, where you’ll return any rented bikes.
