Exciting (re)discovery - Guided tour to commemorate the passing of Auguste Escoffier 90 years ago. Exciting and richly documented, the guide is full of anecdotes and restores the link between Escoffier and César Ritz

We don't regret doing it! - Small museum located in the former birthplace of Escoffier with impeccable reception.
We took the accompanying booklets for the children who went on treasure hunts and we with them. The audio guides were offered to us through a plan recovered from the Tourist Office.
Everyone enjoyed the museum!
We discovered how important Auguste Escoffier was in our French cuisine without even realizing that he was behind so much.

Sunday camping trip with kids - Have you ever been to the Escoffier Museum of Culinary Arts in Vilnius-Loubs? If you don't, fix the situation now! Sharing our impression, and it's up to the challenge, to say the least.
I went to the museum with my kids, ages 9 and 7, and you know what? All three of them were absolutely delighted! It's a place where adults and children are equally interested. The museum is housed in the home of the legendary Auguste Escoffier, a man who not only popularized French cuisine but actually upended the notion of gastronomy of his time. Not for nothing was he called the "King of Chefs and Cook of Kings". He was the one who started the collaboration with César Ritz: Escoffier inspected the kitchens of every new Ritz hotel and launched their operations.
By the way, an interesting fact - Escoffier lived in London, but disliked English cuisine, to say the least. He didn't even bother to learn the language and translate menus for local guests. That's the approach!
Now for the museum itself. It occupies three floors of a cozy house, and our tour took more than 2 hours – but the time flew by unnoticed! The guide was a real find: charismatic, smiley, friendly and with a great sense of humor. She literally brought history to life by having a constant interaction. We guessed the aromas from mysterious cans, tasted the raspberry syrup used for the famous La Pêche Melba dessert, tasted chocolate, and the finale was a master-class tasting of the legendary caramel beurre salé.
I'll be honest, if we'd come without a tour guide, we'd probably have left in half an hour. And that's how the real cooking show came about! I advise you to book tickets in advance - our group was full, 15 people, and it is not the limit, the museum is popular.
On the third floor, a special bonus is a collection of antique menus. One of them was particularly shocking: the list of dishes included elephant meat, donkey meat, antelope meat, cat meat, bear meat and deer meat! Of course, I couldn't resist taking a photo - look for yourself.
Conclusion: if you're in Vilnius-Lub - go without thinking, you won't regret it!

A must-see for foodies - Such a wonderful, interesting museum. Well laid out and explained. We used audio guides in English. The chocolate room was amazing, as was the room with a collection of Escoffier menus from decades ago. The ice swan version of Peach Melba was so interesting and all the cooking stoves implements provided an historical reference . We loved it!
