The experience began with... - The experience began with a wonderful breakfast and coffee to start the day. From there, we prepared food for the birds and learned about how the foundation was started and the mission that guides their work. After a brief walkthrough of the rehabilitation aviaries, we hopped on an ATV and set out across the acres of dry forest that make up the property. As we traveled through the forest, we saw the various foods they grow and cultivate from the land to support the foundation. Midway through the tour, our group split up, some went on a horseback ride while others continued on a hike up the mountainous trail to the peak of their land. Along the hike, we spent time with Carlos, who shared insight into the land’s predators and the animals they’ve captured on trail cameras throughout the foundation. As we climbed higher, we visited the soft-release locations for the macaws. A special moment of the experience was planting a tree as our offering to the foundation. When we returned to the starting point, we were welcomed with drinks and fresh fruit for everyone. This is a journey perfect for nature lovers and for those who enjoy adventures off the beaten path. Just be sure to bring bug spray and sunblock.

A unique and great experience! Highly recommend. - It was a special time at this sanctuary for parrots and toucans and some local monkeys! The guides were great and we loved hiking around their place and see how they care for and then release the birds. They had a lot of birds that we prepared food for. We didn't really need the nice breakfast they prepared since our hotel had breakfast. The work they do is important and I highly recommend going on this unique tour.

A Must Visit - This is an amazing place we stumbled upon by accident looking for activities while on our honeymoon. This place meets if not exceeded my expectation that leaves a ripple effect on how we can live in this world more harmonious. Everything from the staff, tour guides (the founder led ours), the care, the education, the witnessing, the parrots, horse, dogs, ducks, monkeys etc all living their best life. First, let's STOP owning exotic animals as pets. I am glad this place exists... if not mistaken the ONLY place in all of Colombia that rescues parrots that have been trafficked, offer rehabilitation, and a partial reintroduction to learning how to live free in the wild again. The rehabilitation process is LONG and laborious and to give an analogy, try putting a city person and through him into a forest and say, go now your free. Go live your best life. It takes UNlearning and RElearning. Please support this mission. Come visit. And the transport to and from our Airbnb was private, clean and AAA++++

Super cool was not sure what to expect - We were not sure what to expect but this turned out to be a super cool experience. This is a parrot and macaw rescue sanctuary so it’s educational as well as active. Alejandro called me the day before and asked me what we wanted to do during our day, he said that we could go horseback riding ride ATVs and do other things along with hiking. He also asked about the level of fitness of all of our family. Cori was our guide along with Carlos blaze the trail with his machete through the jungle also on our hike and ATV tour was a biologist with the sanctuary. Highly recommend it learned a ton. However, if you are really hungry in the morning, I would not rely solely on the breakfast to fill you up although it was super tasty. It was mostly fruit and plantains.

Great experience, great people, will return again - Very informative, beautiful scenery, even in the dry season when I was there. The staff were all genuine and friendly, with great stories and vast amounts of knowledge about the local fruits, wildlife and way of living. The owner is building the operation from the ground up and is truly dedicated to his work. I cannot recommend this enough, and look forward to returning.
