Highlights
  • Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.

The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.

The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don’t forget to bring your camera!

An amazing experience. This was something very worth doing and I recommend it to anyone contemplating it. - My family and I did a private 2 hour ride with Bjarkin. At first I was very nervous about driving the ATV as I have only done a few times in the US. He explained it very well and I felt very comfortable driving. The views were nothing but amazing and we took 3 stops to see scenery and amazing views.

A Fabulous ATV experience - We (two couples, late 60s / early 70s) booked the ATV tour at Ytri-Solheimar with no prior ATV experience. The tour lasted a full two hours and was wonderful fun running through rivers, along black sand beaches near roaring ocean waves, and up a green, lush river valley. Our guide, Bjarki, was excellent. He explained the operation of the ATV in great detail with an emphasis on safety. Then, at each stop, he explained the history of the area. I highly recommend this outing to anyone that enjoys outdoor adventure.

Exceeded expectations - Phenomenal trip on the ATVs out to the black beach, airplane crash site and up through an amazing canyon. The views were stunning! Otherworldly at times! Our guide Paul-Laurentiu Hincu got us all geared properly with high quality rain proof gear and helmet essentials and explained the use of the ATVs putting safety first which was comforting since this was my first time on ATV and we had our kids along (17,16&14). Would definitely return with those big kids and our 3 younger to do the buggies for the under 5s. Very adventure centered with speed over sand, rock, rivers, etc and some straight aways for speed. Paul always made sure our group was safe and staying together and he was educational about the areas we visited and Icelandic life (give that guy a raise or at least buy him a beer 🍻)

Driving quads in a safe environment but make it an amazing adventure! - Driving with quads on black sand, into a canyon and through rivers is so much fun. It truly felt like an adventure with all the views being picture books like. Out tour guide Bjarki R. Bjarnason was so nice. He gave us a really thorough walkthrough of how to operate the bikes and gave us a nice science introduction on the glaciers with sand castles on the beach. Thank you for this wonderful experience!!

Quad tour is a great experience - Great experience with guide Bjarki! The Quad tour is a perfect way to explore the surroundings. After the quad tour we did some groceries in Vik and then went to see the puffins. A perfect day.

Great Way To Start Our Iceland Trip! - We had a great time and the ride was fun even though it was running it didn’t slow us down or get cut short. Guide was super engaged and helpful. My wife got a bit nervous before and panicked. But was able to rally and loved it. They had extra boots if you didn’t have them. Gear was good. But a little smelly. They get a lot of people come through and I’m sure it’s hard to switch everything out for the next session but that would be a plus.
