This tour is five stars. I loved our guides. They really made the trip. - The experience was delightful. We did the small boat tour, rather than the kayaking, because we had a friend from San Juan come in at the last minute, and we also don’t share kayaks well as a family. We’ve been on a lot of kayaking adventures, and in tandem kayaks, we always end up in a big fight! So we thought we would take this boat tour instead. This is also my second bioluminescent Bay tour, having taken the one in Jamaica. This tour is five stars. I loved our guides. They really made the trip. One of our guides was more of a biologist and explained the local flora and fauna to us and how bioluminescence and phytoplankton worked, and the other was his fun and jovial companion. It was so interesting to watch them together. This exchange sums it up beautifully. Biologist: “there’s some sort of light flashing across the sky. It’s probably just space junk.” His jovial companion: “It’s a shooting star! Make a wish!” We boated out to a very dark spot, where we also had a beautiful night sky. The biologist/main guide explained a lot of the history involving the Pirates, and again, he was also really wonderful at pointing out local birds and plants on the bank while we boated. We were all given long sticks to stir up the water as we boated along. The tour company were exceedingly well organized. Even sending us a photo of what the van looked like before we arrived. I’m assuming many people have somehow missed this tour before. Because the tour operators were very cautious and very, helpful with information before the tour. We also had our friend who lives in San Juan join us at the last minute, and we were so happy they were able to accommodate that request. At one point, when we had stopped the boat, The companion pulled up a big bucket of water into the boat, and we were able to run our hands through it and watch it sparkle. Since we were not going on a swim, this was really magical. We also were able to witness it fade as it continued to be out of the water Here is an odd note. The driver of the tour van was fabulous. I always like to sit up front and talk to the driver and get local Intel. He talked to me about his favorite food trucks and we had a really fun conversation about the van and driving and what happens when it gets muddy, etc. He had such a sparkly personality! The only photos I post will be ones that they sent us of the van, because this is my second bio luminescent tour, and the photos really don’t come out well! I’m also glad this was a boat tour, because on my first bio experience in Jamaica, I was stung by jellyfish. So boating will really prevent this! I wish I remembered the name of the crew, including the driver, but we had so many other tours lined up that I do not. So please give them a shout out from Lockie and Zac Hunter.

Good experience - Excellent guide. They were able to accommodate us on an earlier trip. Well guided. Pricey but not something we can do on our own. Worth the price for a good experience.

Unforgettable! - A unforgettable experience! Our meeting point was an easy to find location from which we were brought to the start of the boat tour via minibus. We had a great driver who navigated the difficult road with ease and joy. The fun had already begun! After arrival at the bay we entered a small boat - of just the right size to fit our little group of 7 visitors plus 2 guides. The bioluminescent phenomenon was truly special! Unforgettable! The guided tour included explanations of not only the micro organisms, but also the trees and birds of the bay. The tour guides on the boat were super personable and friendly! Even though I did not catch all the explanations acoustically as I was not sitting right next to the main guide and was not used to the pronunciation, it did not diminish my enjoyment of the experience in the least as my eyes were busy taking it all in and memorizing this unique and wonderful experience. We had a perfect temperature and visibility of the stars in the sky. I felt very lucky that the guide in the back of the boat had so much knowledge - also being able to point to various star constellations. It all felt very peaceful and relaxing for all of us! There was a great effort put into creating a wonderful experience for our small group, and it seemed to me that we all left happy and excited. I certainly did! Thank you!

Great tour and communications from company! - Tour operator communicated with us when our tour wasn't full enough to run and made sure to rebook us on another tour while we were on the island. Everything ran smoothly and the guides were very knowledgeable. Our 5 year old son was with us and he was the only kid but they accommodated him well and made him feel so welcome. Would definitely recommend this tour company for your bio bay experience!

Good show - The tour is well organised and conducted. Comfortable and timely pick up and drop off. Just FYI, you will be given some pipes to agitate the water to see the glow. It was hard to capture on cam.

Read the fine print!! - Viator displayed this as a San Juan experience. However, the pickup location is three hours away from San Juan and requires a ferry. The tour starts late at night, and the ferry is unavailable to return to the main island, so you are pretty much stranded. This is not mentioned on the main booking page. We realized this on the tour day when they started sending additional details. We made a refund request, and they denied it.

Cancel our reservation last minute - Nothing memorable about this place. The only reason the whole family came to Vieques was to do the bioluminescent tour but they sent us a message canceling the tour the day we arrived saying we needed to contact the site were we purchased the tickets to claim our refund. We texted them back but we never got a response from them. When I called the site they didn’t know anything about the cancellation and we had to wait until they contacted them to get approval for the refund. The whole thing ruined our experience and on top of that we have to wait a week to get a refund back on the credit card. Don’t come to this place please! Go to Jak’s instead. They were able to help us out with the last minute reservation for our group and were very helpful and professional. Not like nenas island place !
