Beautiful, you have to know. - Lovely, full of history, very worth visiting. You can only visit with a guide. 45 minute Tur, in different languages including Spanish. Have 1.5 hours because you must buy admission 30 minutes before 2 pm or 3 pm. Unmissable.

Beautiful Opera House - We had pre-booked tickets online for the Sleeping Beauty Ballet around 6 months in advance, I would recommend to do this if you want the best seats, although it is not cheap. We sat in the first level of box seats, and this had a great view. There were 3 rows of seats in each box, however the view from the back row inside the box would be very difficult to see anything. Also standing room available for a cheaper price but would not recommend as each ballet/opera lasts around 3 hrs. Inside the opera house is beautiful and well worth a visit, as well as the gift shop if you didn't fancy a show. Also worth noting - 1. It is VERY hot inside, I nearly fainted inside as it was so warm with the lights inside the box, and this was in December. 2. You cannot take drinks from the bar or in your bag to your seat, so you can end up very dehydrated or in coughing fit as some people did. Water was 5 euro, and soft drinks around 5-6 euro. 3. As you might find, there is not a dress code for Ballet shows, however we found that most people dressed smart-casual, no jeans, however some people did wear suits and formal dresses.

A must see! - A great place to visit, that is hidden in plain sight! We took a tour that last 45 min (you must book it in advance) and it was a very pleasant surprise. Our tour guide Gabriel, was very friendly and offered us a lot of interesting information as well as being open to questions. The building is amazing and the tour includes the best seats in the house, floor seats as well as the side rooms. A must see!

Maravillosa - It is a majestic, elegant and sober place. There are much bigger and more famous operas, but this one is not far behind. It is advisable to visit it and tour every corner, as well as see the stage from the presidential box (formerly the imperial box).

Magnificent place and highly recommended. - I was able to attend the opera “Salome”, daughter of Herodias, wife of Herod; refers to the martyrdom of John the Baptist. Wonderful show, for the convenience of the audience there are small screens in the seats that translate the dialogues from German into various languages. Since I bought my ticket on the very day, I only got to the Galleries, where you have to stand at the top and from there I imagined that I would not enjoy the opera and quite the opposite, it was wonderful. The place is beautiful and if you arrive an hour early you can tour all its rooms and even taste a coffee or food in the cafes. They rent you binoculars for €2 that are not worth using. Highly recommended. Buy tickets directly at the Opera House, the sellers on the street are not completely reliable as they inform us and are certainly more expensive. I paid €13 for my ticket. The dress code is no shorts and sandals, people are very well dressed but others are very casual. There are two guided tours in English in the afternoon, but if you buy your ticket and arrive an hour early you can book that guide to the property and learn its history on your own.

Standing tickets - great for fans, perhaps not for first timers - Standing room at the Opera costs EUR 15 and there is always a big queue for the tickets on the night (though if you are passing, sometimes there are some for sale first thing in the morning). I went twice. One thing I noticed was that an awful lot of people disappear after the interval. I suspect these are the people who just 'gave it a try'. Vienna has *great* music, but most of the productions are rather so-so, which makes it perhaps not the best place to meet opera for the first time, particularly if you have to stand up for the duration. If you want to hear some good voices and a great orchestra, on the other hand, I highly recommend it.

by Vienna - Visit made unfortunately in German because there were no more places in the one in Italian and English so given the few time slots I recommend booking in advance. Very large work but certainly not the most beautiful in Europe Ticket price like all attractions in Vienna always high

Overrated to the core. - Overrated Opera House. Far from most beautiful OR well-kept Opera Houses in Europe. They stir toward modern production of classic which is an eyesore for real classical music lovers. We went to see Carmen today- we had to listen with closed eyes not to see the boring stage with colorless production. If you love Carmen- see it somewhere else. Sad disappointment.
