Exquisite imperial travel - A couple of hundred years ago if you were travelling, nothing would top doing so in these marvellous examples collected here. But that choice was only available to the very few, at the top echelons of society. Empress Maria Theresa’s carousel carriage is gilded and beautifully carved. In early 1743 she used it to great effect in Vienna to show any potential opponents that she was a formidable ruler. On the higher floor is a series of portraits of 24 horses owned by Empress Elizabeth.

Nice collection of carriages and stories of their use. - We had limited time to visit the museum due to our own schedule constraints, but we’re very glad we decided to go in. The museum offers a self-guided tour with detailed explanations throughout the exhibit, which is great if you have more time to explore. Although we moved quickly and mainly focused on reading the signs next to each carriage, we still found the museum fascinating. The collection is impressive, and the displays are well-organized. Definitely worth a visit—even if you’re short on time!

A hidden gem in Vienna. - I really enjoyed this visit as you don't often see so many carriages in one place. They were beautiful and looked alive. The relaxing environment was also an extra bonus. There weren't that many people around at noon. For us, this is excellent.

Well worth visiting. - Well worth visiting. Very interesting. We went late afternoon and it was not at all crowded. Allow an hour and a half. Beautiful carriages actually used by the Austrian Royal Family. Marvel at the skill of the carriage makers. Some very interesting and informative videos playing too.

Surprisingly interesting museum - Interestingly well designed exhibition of different carriages. So be sure to use good explanations in the audio guides. The only thing missing was the common thread. Some of the exhibits looked set up without meaning. Otherwise, the Wagenburg is definitely worth it.

Valid - Museum next to the imperial palace with a decent collection of carriages and ceremonial dresses. Seeing them up close shows the power of an empire.
