Highlights
  • Strengberg - In one and a half hour we will make a short coffee break at a quality restaurant Landzeit “Country time” on a highway, where you can relax and enjoy a comfortable rustic atmosphere and stretch your legs during your break.
  • Mondsee - Your unforgettable trip begins in the idyllic sceneries of the Austrian Alps, where you will see Mondsee landscapes, chosen by the film director as an ideal location for Maria’s wedding setting.
  • St Gilgen - On the way to Salzburg you will not stop taking pictures of the beautiful lakes and peaks. View over elegant village of St. Gilgen on the northern shore of Lake Wolfgangsee reveals an Alpine idyll coupled with mountain Flair. One of Salzburg’s most famous sons has his ancestral roots here. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s mother, Anna, was born in this beautiful village.
  • Salzburg - You will take a stroll through the magnificent Mirabell Gardens, where Maria and children danced around the Pegasus Fountain while singing the song «Do-re-mi». Then you will see the picturesque „Hourse Pond“, shot in the film as well. Enjoy the chilling of the Residence Square with the famous Residence Fountain, the most famous fountain in the city, chosen for the «I have confidence in me» song. You will take picture of the Summer Riding School, where the Trapp family took part in the world-famous Salzburg music festival and enjoy the silence of the oldest cemetery in Austria by the Sankt Peter´s Monastery. Here the Trapp family finds a secure hiding place before escaping to Italy. As the city in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born and grew up, Salzburg can fairly claim the title of City of Mozart. Just be ready to bump into Mozart around almost every corner as well. From outside you will also see the Nonnberg convent, that became famous thanks to voice of Maria Kutschera.
  • Schloss Hellbrunn - In summer time you will enjoy the fresh air in the Hellbrunn Park, where the famous Gazebo pavilion has been still keeping the secret of the first Liesl’s kiss.
  • Schloss Leopoldskron - In winter time we will be fascinated by this jewel of the Baroque perfectly chosen as an original shooting location for the world-famous movie.

We spent a full day together and she captured our attention with her great knowledge of Salzburg and its history, and her energy and enthusiasm. Very pleased - no complaints. Would recommend! - I don't know what these other reviews were complaining about unless this company has taken feedback and improved their tours, because everything was as advertised. Our tour (July 2024) was led my an excellent tour guide who was knowledgeable and helpful. We were on a tour bus that was air conditioned as advertised (contrary to some other reviews), and we saw two lake sites in the Sound of Music. We had an excellent hour walking tour in Salzburg led by a second guide who was wonderful (ours was walking with a Russian-speaking duo so they even accommodated for that when advertised as 'English only' which was impressive). We saw a number of the movie sites as well as some other historic place (childhood homes of Mozart, Doppler (physicist), and some others. The only 'letdown' on the tour was that we only had an hour to explore Salzburg. There was a LOT to see, and this was also meant to be our lunch time, so we needed to use it to find food. This WAS advertised, so not unexpected, but we didn't expect to have so much we wanted to explore. It did get us excited to come back for a couple days and focus more on Salzburg (the rest of this trip had been in Vienna), so we will be back! Definitely recommend this tour if you're staying in Vienna and want a day trip to remember. You'll see a lot, learn a lot, and maybe even make some new friends on the bus (we did)!

Fun trip - Very informative info from the Salzburg local guide Natasha . Although it is tiring but the overall the experience is great. Just a pity that I did not get a chance to purchase some local souvenirs. Having said that the people from different countries which make up of this group leaves me with fond memories

Just ok - The first part of the trip, up until Salzburg was ok and the tour guide was wonderful. The problem started at Salzburg when they changed the tour guide, a lady that never took care of the group or even cared if it was actually following her. Very little time to really enjoy the tour, specially at Maribell garden.

Not this one - A rushed tour doing it simultaneously in Russian and English is no good for anyone. Especially the poor tour guide. Thought it was English only. There are multiple tour operators. Do your homework
