Following the remarkable success of last year, the Paganini Ensemble is set to return to the Musikverein Wien. Under the baton of Mario Hossen, audiences will experience Paganini’s rarely performed masterpieces, rich in virtuosity, bel canto, and sound poetry. The program is further enriched by world premieres from Solbiati and Bischof, along with a tribute to Fritz Kreisler on his 150th birthday. The Paganini Ensemble Vienna was established in 2019 by Mario Hossen to highlight Niccolò Paganini’s chamber music compositions. With its original configuration of violin, guitar, viola, and cello, the ensemble merges historically informed performances with virtuoso skill, bel canto, and emotional richness.
From 2021 to 2024, the ensemble performed in prestigious venues and festivals across Europe, Canada, and China, including Musikverein Wien, Konzerthaus Wien, Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid, Paganini Festival Genoa, Liszt Festival Raiding, and Collingwood Music Festival.
The ensemble collaborates with institutions like the Amici di Paganini Society in Genoa and the Biblioteca Casanatense in Rome, serving as the official ambassador of the European Paganini Route. It is committed to contemporary music, premiering works by Rainer Bischof, Gheorghi Arnaoudov, and Gabriele Proy. The Dynamic label is currently producing a comprehensive recording of Paganini’s chamber music.
