Great visit to St Marks - Lucia was a wonderful guide. She managed to make the visit to St Mark's and the Doge's palace highly enjoyable for all family members. We all learned a lot and had a great time. Having Lucia was a game changer for our children (ages 6 and 8): they normally lose interest in museums and picture galleries after a fairly short time, but this time they were engaged for the whole 2 hours.

The real hidden gems of Venice - Rocco was magnificent. After a bumpy start with wires crossed on the meeting location, Rocco took us on a real hidden gem tour pointing out places and telling us stories we would not have heard anywhere else. It was a real pleasure. Thank you Rocco.

Not to be missed! - Our private tour using Veronica from With Locals was a fantastic experience that I highly recommend. With her expertise and enthusiasm, we learned so much and really experienced our tour of St. Mark's and the Doge's Palace the way it should be. She is passionate and so knowledgeable that we would never have gotten out of it what we wanted to without her. She made the process simple and fun with her communication to us as we arrived in the crowded St. Mark's square. One of our best decisions of our trip was using With Locals and Veronica!

Excellent family-friendly tour! - Lucia was terrific. We had a group with a wide range of ages including kids ages 7 to 13. Her tour is set up to be engaging with children, and they stayed engaged for several hours. It was also informative for the adults. I would highly recommend her especially for families. I’d love to come back to do some of her art tours for myself - another time!

Engaging and personal family experience - It takes a special person to engage with teens with history on a hot Venetian afternoon. Veronica’s energy was infectious, and her dynamic and passionate storytelling was the perfect option. She accommodated our requests (including an excellent place to eat straight after), keeping our children actively involved, and impressed both my husband and myself with her incredible knowledge. Highly recommend!

Great tour of Venice! - We had a great time learning all about her hometown of Venice from Romy. She brought an excellent perspective to the tour about the history of Venice and modern life there. Romy spoke English very well and was easy for us to understand. She responded well to our questions and gave us tips for enjoying the rest of our time there. Prior communication was quick and efficient, too. We'd recommend Romy as a guide without hesitation!

Veronica provided the best tou...She was amazing, fun, and very knowlegable - We booked the Doge's Palace & St. Mark's Basilica tour with Veronica for my family of 4. Veronica was a blast to be with and this was our most memorable tour in Italy. Veronica is funny, knowledgeable, cute, and was very entertaining. Since I booked the latest tour time there was to avoid some crowds and heat, Veronica was extremely accommodating and made all necessary arrangements prior to us arriving. There is no question that if you go to Venice, Booking with Veronica is the absolute the best tour guide you will have. If we visit Venice again, there is no doubt we would seek her out for tours.

Ambiguous - Because we were traveling with our grown-up children, we stayed in an apartment with two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom in Mestre, just like last year. The bus connection to Venice was again very easy and direct. Mestre is not necessarily cheaper than Venice when it comes to shopping, so we usually went shopping in Cannaregio on Sundays too. We spent the first two days at the Biennale again, which was a bit disappointing because there was little architecture on display. Unlike usual, Venice was very crowded. That's why we didn't go to St. Mark's Square at all this year, nor to the Basilica di San Marco. A visit to the Scuola Grande di San Rocco is always worthwhile and we spent some time there. We were also in Torcello again, but didn't skip Burano entirely voluntarily because the vaporetto lines had been changed. A visit to the cathedral is recommended because of the explanations in German. The Chiesa di Santa Fosca was unfortunately completely closed for restoration. Murano was very popular and we were able to admire the mosaics inside the Basilica di Santa Maria e Donato. The impressive architecture of the east side was covered up due to construction work, however. In Venice we also visited the large churches of Santi Giovanni e Paolo and Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. If I had to choose, I would now give preference to the Frari. On arrival, our children accidentally drove from the airport to Venice instead of Mestre and then spent two hours in the city. They happened to come across San Zulian near San Marco, which we didn't know, although we think we've already visited all of Venice's churches. We'll have to visit it because we didn't have the time this time. But we were in Vicenza after visiting Padua last year. Vicenza is famous for Palladio's buildings. However, we were more impressed by the Teatro Olimpico (Vicenza). Because Venice was so crowded at the end of October and beginning of November, we are not sure whether we will go to the art biennale again this year. Finally, we would like to note that although Venice had a lot of tourists, there was plenty of space at the biennale. We can also confirm that the MO.S.E. project is effective. It was actually high tide when we visited, but we didn't notice anything other than a little higher water at the edge of the fish market.
