City of Venice - The guide will meet you at your centrally located accommodation in Venice and lead you on a stroll through the narrow streets, allowing you to soak in the ambiance of an 18th-century Italian city that remains vibrant. Depending on your hotel’s location, you will visit churches, palaces, and Campielli (Venetian squares). NOTE: A meeting point will be arranged if your location is distant from the city center or on an island.
-
Ponte di Rialto - Rialto is a charming area of Venice featuring the historic fish market under the grand Rialto Bridge. Jewelers and other shops line the sides of this marble monument, showcasing their wares.
-
Piazza San Marco - Piazza San Marco serves as Venice’s living room, a gathering spot for both tourists and locals. The Square is an open-air museum with the sea as its backdrop. The bell tower, standing 324 feet tall, is an exact replica of the one that unexpectedly collapsed in 1902. Alongside the Basilica, it is a symbol of Venice. The magnificent clock tower was used by Galileo for his studies. Two bronze “Moors” mark the hours with the same 15th-century mechanism on top. (tower and bell tower viewed from the outside).
-
Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo - The Venice tour includes a lesser-known site cherished by Venetians. This monumental staircase is a harmonious blend of Renaissance, Gothic, and Venetian-Byzantine styles. Commissioned by Pietro Contarini in 1400 to showcase his family’s prominence, the Venetians added the nickname “del bovolo,” meaning snail, due to its shape. Visitors can choose to climb it and enjoy a stunning view over Venice’s rooftops. The climb is optional; you can decide on the spot whether to ascend the 80 steps of the 26-meter high tower (8 euros per participant).
-
Basilica di San Marco - Despite lacking architectural unity, the Basilica’s beauty is unparalleled. The Byzantine influence is immediately apparent, not only in the magnificent mosaics adorning the facade and entrance. Your private guide will share the history of the Saint and the Church. -
Doge’s Palace - Marvel at the impressive architecture in the square, the Ducal Palace, once the residence of the Doge, the governor of the ancient Serenissima Republic. The oriental style of its façade is a fitting showcase for masterpieces by artists like Tintoretto and Veronese. You will admire the iconic Bridge of Sighs, which served as the passage for the condemned who sighed while taking in the view one last time before imprisonment. The Palace is viewed from the outside. A visit to the Doge’s Palace is available upon request and will be included in the tour, requiring at least one hour of the walk to be sacrificed.
-
Venice - LUNCH: Your private guide will escort you to a selected restaurant for a one-hour lunch break at the end of the walking tour. Enjoy a traditional meal (included in the price: starter, main course, and water).
-
Isola di Murano - After lunch, your guide will take you to the main islands of Venice, Murano, and Burano. Murano is a vibrant and colorful island. Your guide will handle all transfers and reveal the secrets of Venice’s enchanting islands. Murano is renowned worldwide for Venetian glass. Witness a glassmaker blowing into a tube to create anything he desires, even whimsical chandeliers.
-
Isola di Burano - World Heritage Site - Burano is picturesque with its multicolored houses lining the canals. It is a paradise where residents greet you with flowers on their balconies and the art of “merletto” (delicate lace). Drop-off will be at the nearest dock to your accommodation in Venice or the train station/car parking.
