Charming, cozy mask making - We had sooo much fun being creative and making masks in this charming, cozy store. I took my mask home and wore it for Halloween this year. It was one of my favorite memories from Venice!

Masks in Venice - The workshop was fun and we were catapulted into the Venetian artistic atmosphere. Nicolò was very kind along with his collaborator. And we brought home some beautiful masks! A beautiful mom daughter experience!

Terrific hands on learning for adults and children - Amazing visit, we learned so much about the history of masks in Venice. Children aged 9 and 10, as well as adults, thoroughly enjoyed the hands on art and history lesson.

The many faces of Carnivale! - Nicola told us this was his family's business taught us the history and meaning behind the different masks. He displayed a wide variety of his artistic ability. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Not to be Missed! - Absolutely wonderful experience---and something different. Giorgio was friendly and engaging---shared interesting historical info about Venice and the tradition of mask-making as well as about his own personal connection to the city (his family has been there for centuries.) Cozy, peaceful atmosphere in which to paint away. In the end, Giorgio spun his masterful magic, adding the finishing touches to our pieces and transforming them into little works of art. Can’t wait to return. Would love to do this again.

Good - Pictures are misleading if you have booked at the museum. However we really enjoyed the experience, the lady was very good. I don't think it was worth the cost.

This is mask painting only - This was a fun on a rainy day but not quite all we'd hoped. What it is: a chance to paint a mask in up to three colors. You have a choice of blank masks, though none of the 'big 4' (plague doc, cassanova, cat or jester). The shop is intimate and full of inspiring examples, all for sale. It's in a nice location, not too overwhelmed with tourists and takes just an hour. The shop owner is kind to kids and speaks English very well. What it's not: a chance to do more than paint three colors. The instructor draws the patterns on the mask and your job is to paint in two coats. He then adds the final swirls of paint to give it a finished air. It would have been nice to have learned this step too but then you'd need at least 90 min. Also, he engaged little wth those of us in the workshop. Instead, we became the backdrop to several school groups who were touring the workshop. Since the place is small, that meant listening to his explanation of mask history in Venice about six times in our hour and rather feeling like we were second to the primary trade going on in the shop. On the up side, we really learned that mask history!

Low enthusiasm - While it was fun to get to paint, I didn’t think the owner/ leader was that interested or excited to be leading the class. He spoke very minimally about masks.
