Highlights
  • Isola di Murano - The enchanting islands of Murano and Burano are the perfect change of pace from Venice’s crowded streets and waterways. And the perfect way to reach them is by private water taxi. Faster and sturdier than a gondola, nimbler and less crowded than a waterbus, water taxis are the premier way to travel in Venice. Few visitors get to experience them, but yours is included, along with an expert local guide who’ll explain Venice’s history as a titan of trade along the way.\n\nYour first port of call is a specially chosen glassblowing workshop on Murano. In the Middle Ages, only Murano’s artisans possessed the secrets of this craft, and sharing them was punishable by execution. You’ll get to witness modern glassblowers wield those once secret techniques, shaping delicate and dazzling works of art from molten glass. Then admire the workshop’s finest work in its gallery, and perhaps take home a piece of your own \

Discover plenty at both islands with sufficient time to wander.

Can’t go wrong! - Serena was very knowledgeable, kept us on time and had great recommendations! The glass factory in Murano was incredible! So much beautiful high quality glass to see. Even bought a decanter and wine glasses and the glass company shipped to the US do no worries! Burano was a treat as well as there are not many true lace makers left! Great experience - especially for a 1/2 day!!!

Lovely trip to Murano & Burano - One of my favorite excursions of our Venice vacation. The first stop for our group was Murano, where you disembark directly at Murano Glass, one of the island’s glass artisan makers. The demonstration of the glass making process and the gallery of artistic glass pieces was incredible. (Insider tip: The items in the Murano Glass shop are very high end and the prices reflect that. After the demo and a quick walk through the gallery, I recommend walking around the corner from Murano Glass to Waverider Glass Company, their prices were much more reasonable, though the selection was more limited). The island of Burano was next and we loved every minute from the lace making demonstration to the shops along their Main Street and the little cafes. We grabbed a quick lunch at one of these and it was one of our favorite meals of our vacation. Don’t miss photo opps of the brightly colored buildings and the leaning church tower.

Beautiful Burano and Murano - Murano and Burano were stunning and the glass blowing demonstration at Murano was fascinating and definitely one to not miss. Our tour guide, Eliza, was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and with an infectious enthusiasm for her home city of Venice. We thoroughly recommend this trip, and for the Instagram-conscious, the views and picturesque spots are unbeatable, particularly in Burano
