- Teatro La Fenice - Once one of the seven major theatres in the city, today the Fenice is Venice’s sole opera house. It is undoubtedly a jewel among European theatres, having shone from the start, as the best composers of the era wrote and performed their operas here, including Bellini, Donizetti, and Rossini. However, it was Giuseppe Verdi who is most closely associated with the Fenice and Venetian memory.
- Canal Grande - Known as “the most beautiful road in the world,” the Grand Canal offers views that are almost identical to what an 18th-century nobleman, a Renaissance courtesan, or a medieval merchant might have seen.
- Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute - As you enter the Grand Canal, you can admire the church of the Madonna della Salute.
The first thing that strikes a viewer is the church’s imposing presence, strategically placed at the entrance of the Grand Canal, offering views of the city in every direction due to its circular shape.
Today, every 21st of November, the city celebrates the Madonna della Salute in memory of the end of the plague.
- Punta della Dogana - Punta della Dogana separates the Grand Canal from the Giudecca Canal. Due to its strategic location, it housed the Customs and Salt Warehouses. During the fifteenth century, the Sea Customs House, previously near the Arsenale, was moved to the western point of the Dorsoduro borough.
- San Giorgio Maggiore - Visitors will have a view of the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, featuring its beautiful Renaissance Church built by Palladio and a bell tower resembling the larger one in St Mark’s Square. The island was once known as the Island of Cypress Trees before becoming an important Benedictine monastery.
- Giardini Reali - At the end, visitors will enjoy a wonderful overview of Saint Mark’s Square. This is a spot that painters from around the world have tried to capture in its uniqueness, but it is recommended to simply sit back and take it all in.
- Gondola Gallery Bookshop - The Gondola Gallery is a unique place to explore the history, craftsmanship, and traditions of Venice’s iconic gondola. With a guide, see the only original gondola displayed in section and enjoy a unique 3D journey through Venice across the centuries.
