We safeguard 600 years of history
The Poggio Torselli estate, nestled on the Chianti hills in the San Casciano area, was born as a farm of the Da Casavecchia family, and as such was already mentioned in some fourteenth-century documents.
But it was in 1427 that it appeared with explicit mention in a land register. Poggio Torselli was born.
There is a corner on the north-east side of the park, from which you can look out over Florence and Brunelleschi’s Dome. It seems just a stone’s throw away. In 1427 the same spectator looking out onto that terrace would have seen a different scene: the dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore under construction.
Its history has its roots in the Florentine Renaissance and over the centuries Poggio Torselli passed from hand to hand among the richest Tuscan families, from the Angiolini to the Macalli, from the Machiavelli to the Corsini Orlandini up to the Antinori in the 19th century.
