Varanasi

Varanasi - Begin your day early with a captivating boat ride on the Ganga River, enjoying the stunning sunrise views. Pass by numerous Ghats such as Manikarnika Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat, and Kedar Ghat.

After the boat ride, rest at your hotel. Post-breakfast, drive to Sarnath, located 10.6 km away, a significant site for Buddhist pilgrimage.

Chaukhandi Stupa - In Sarnath, visit the Chaukhandi Stupa, built on the spot where Lord Buddha first met his five ascetics, to whom he later preached his initial teachings.

Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath - Dhamek Stupa marks the location where Buddha delivered his first discourse to his initial five disciples.

Dharmarajika Stupa - Dharmarajika Stupa (Note: Closed on Sunday) is an archaeological marvel where Lord Buddha’s remains were enshrined.

Mulagandha Kuti Vihar - The ancient ruins of Mulagandha Kuti Vihar indicate where Buddha spent his first rainy season. This was the main temple, marked by the Ashokan pillar at the front. Enjoy lunch at a quality restaurant.

Ashoka Pillar - After lunch, visit the Ashoka Pillar, India’s national emblem, marking Emperor Ashoka’s visit to Sarnath.

Sarnath Museum - Sarnath Museum (Note: Closed on Friday) is renowned for the four-headed lion that once adorned the Ashoka Pillar, dating back to the 3rd century BC.

Wat Thai Sarnath Temple - A key feature of the Thai Temple in Sarnath is the 80-foot-tall standing Buddha image.
