Gorgeous, informative, nature - This is an excellent day trip from the city of San Jose. A quick 1 hour drive up the mountain to the La Paz reserve and waterfall. Our driver Ronnie was friendly, informative and fun as a guide. He had an amazing knowledge of the wildlife and really let us experience the journey on our own terms. Spoke great English but also taught us a lot of the local slang. The animals were gorgeous to see in person and their enclosures are impressive. The pictures don't do the waterfalls justice, as they're much larger and jaw-dropping in person. The paths to view them are also a great workout, although for older persons it might be a challenge, as there are definitely some steep areas with a lot of steps. All in all I highly recommend this day trip for anyone visiting San Jose and the surrounding areas.

Dont miss this Tour - The place is simply magnificent. It is very well designed to get you close to nature without hassle and without disturbing the beautiful ecosystem in the mountains. The lunch was excellent and delicious. Our guide, Arturo, was so kind and amenable.

La Paz waterfall - Better than the first time we went. Knowledgeable guide, upgraded animal exhibits for a sloth experience. Prepare yourself for a hike there are a lot of steps. Good food for the lunch.

Great experience. Seen everything you see on the web site. - All the pictures you see on the site you will see. The buffet lunch was very good. Plus side after lunch you get to see the waterfalls. Warning though lunch is great don't over do it going to the waterfalls involves many steps. Wear tennis shoes for better traction on the steps.

Waterfalls and animals - The waterfalls were beautiful. The lunch was a buffet with lots of options, even my picky children were happy. The animals are in more of a zoo like atmosphere which was disappointing. The frog exhibit was the best with frogs out on the vegetation. Plan on the tour running over. We were originally to be back at the hotel at 4:00 and did not return until after 5:00.

Excellent tour - This was an awesome experience! The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the area. Along the way she spoke about how they grow strawberries in the greenhouses and other fruits they grow here in Costa Rica due to the rich soils from the volcanic ash. At the falls she spoke about the different species of animals and reptiles, including how the frogs reproduce from the egg sacs and the eggs that are hatched then to tadpoles with the end result of a frog. What they don't keep there they release back into the wild. I also enjoyed the birds, butterflies, snakes and various species of wild cats. The tour included a buffet lunch and everything I tasted was delicious. The driver of the van was also very courteous and professional. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone I know that is coming to Costa Rica in the San Jose area.
