Additional Information

Experience Valencia’s very own ‘Sistine Chapel’. Nestled in the city center, this magnificent church, recently renovated and now open to the general public, is among the oldest religious edifices in Valencia.

Originally established over seven centuries ago, it once stood as a gothic temple, and has seen significant modifications over the years, resulting in the extraordinary exterior you see today. In the late 17th century, the interior walls underwent a dramatic transformation, becoming decorated with breathtaking artwork, entirely encapsulating them in a rich baroque style, leaving its international visitors awe-struck. The efforts of the Fundación Hortensia Herrero Maecenases lead to the restoration of more than 2000m2 of these captivating murals. Open from Tuesday through Sunday, your ticket to San Nicolas comes with an audioguide for a comfortable learning experience about this venerable church.

Amazing - It’s amazing. The paintings on the walls are incredible. If you are in Valencia, you mustn’t miss. You don’t need to buy ticket in advance.

Exciting - I state that, as with everything, it matters a lot the load and the motivations that lead us to visit the places. I found the Church beautiful, rich in meaning and beauty. I really liked the audio guide and also the proposed itinerary. Perhaps it should also be explained a little better at the entrance that each station allows you to admire the ceiling in front. It is indeed very hot in this period and the number of people perhaps should be quota

A beautiful ceiling! - We purchased our tickets with Viator prior to leaving on our trip. There was a long line waiting to purchase tickets and we were waved past them. It was a beautiful church and the audio guide was wonderful. It had music accompanying the key highlights. I never would’ve figured out when looking at each chapel to look behind us and up at the story that goes with it. It had a nice flow of chapels and the beauty was in the ceiling.

Fascinating - Absolutely breathtaking place. Great audio guide as well. You can easily spent 1 hour here. It's really hidden from the outside.

To see - Recently restored, San Nicolas, called the 'Sistine Chapel of Valencia' offers a baroque riot of brightly coloured 17th century frescoes, painted over the Gothic vault. The altarpiece is beautiful, with the figures of the two saints, San Nicolas and San Pedro Martin to whom the church is dedicated. Admission ticket not cheap, 11 euros, with audio guide To see

Very nice church, but unvisitable due to the internal temperature - Very nice church, but in mid-July the internal temperature is really unbearable. Great idea of the virtual tour to do from home, but I would have preferred to visit it better if there was some air inside. So it's wasted money

MERCANTILISM - Guided tour of the CHURCH of San Nicolás. I highlight church because the treatment of disabled people is shameful. They charge us without any discount for the visit. Any museum, monument and church that I have visited always has a discounted price or even no fee.

Staff very edge - The entrance staff very edge and with not very play shapes. It was very hot inside and they forced us to cover our shoulders. As for the architect, the only remaining nave of the original building is full of frescoes and baroque elements. Interesting but incomparable with the Italian Sistine Chapel.
