Uyuni Salt Flats to Salt Hotel
Train Cemetery - The Uyuni Train Cemetery is one of Bolivia’s most unique and captivating tourist attractions. Situated on the outskirts of the small town of Uyuni.
The Train Cemetery dates back to the golden age of Bolivian railroads in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this time, Bolivia experienced an economic boom driven by the export of minerals like tin and silver. Railroads played a crucial role in transporting these resources from the country’s interior mines to seaports on the Pacific coast. Due to its strategic location, Uyuni became a significant railway hub.
However, as the Bolivian mining industry began to decline, the railway infrastructure became obsolete. Trains and locomotives that once powered commerce and industry were abandoned in the desert, giving birth to the Uyuni Train Cemetery.
Salar de Uyuni - The Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt desert, is a natural marvel in Bolivia that offers a one-of-a-kind experience. During the tour, visitors will explore the “Ojos de Agua,” geothermal formations where underground water bubbles to the surface, and Playa Blanca, the world’s first salt hotel, now a museum filled with salt sculptures. Nearby is the Monument of Flags, surrounded by emblems of various countries, symbolizing global connection and providing an ideal photo opportunity. Perspective photo shoots are popular here, allowing for fun images that play with distance and size. The day concludes with a spectacular sunset, where the sky reflects in the salt like a mirror, accompanied by a glass of Bolivian wine. The night is spent at the salt hotel, ensuring an unforgettable stay.

Laguna Cañapa - The minor lagoons of Bolivia, located in the department of Potosí, are natural gems that dazzle with their beauty and biodiversity. Laguna Cañapa, surrounded by mountains, is notable for its emerald waters and abundant birdlife, especially flamingos. Laguna Hedionda, known for its strong sulfur smell, hosts an impressive number of flamingos and other migratory birds, offering a unique natural spectacle. Laguna Honda, with its calm waters and perfect reflections, is a haven of peace where the landscape blends with the sky. Finally, Laguna Ramaditas, with its reddish color and white salt flats, creates a striking visual contrast. These high-altitude lagoons offer an unforgettable experience, allowing visitors to enjoy pristine nature and wildlife at its finest. After this visit, the journey continues across the desert, showcasing a series of volcanic lagoons with distinct characteristics.
Siloli Desert - The Siloli Desert, located in southwestern Bolivia, is a spectacular desert area renowned for its unique rock formations and arid landscape. Part of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, this desert sits over 4,000 meters above sea level. One of its most iconic formations is the Stone Tree, an eroded rock resembling a petrified tree.
Siloli’s terrain is predominantly sandy and stony, with vast expanses under a deep blue sky. The reddish soil and the gray and brown rocks create a surreal landscape perfect for photography. Despite its aridity, the desert is home to adapted fauna such as vicuñas and Andean foxes.
Visiting the Siloli Desert is an immersion into a world of serenity and natural grandeur, ideal for adventurers and nature enthusiasts looking to explore one of Bolivia’s most remote and fascinating places.

Arbol de Piedra - Early in the morning, as the journey continues across the desert, visitors arrive at the Stone Tree, located in the Siloli Desert in Bolivia. This iconic and surreal rock formation, eroded by strong highland winds, resembles a petrified tree with a thin trunk and a wider top. Situated over 4,000 meters above sea level, the Stone Tree is a remarkable example of nature’s power and the desert’s beauty. Surrounded by sandy and stony terrain, this natural monument is a highlight for tourists and photographers visiting the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve.
Geiser Sol de la Mañana - The Sol de Mañana geysers, located in the department of Potosí, Bolivia, are an impressive geothermal spectacle. At over 4,800 meters above sea level, this geothermal field offers a surreal view with fumaroles, boiling mud pits, and craters emitting steam and sulfuric gases. The area, with intense volcanic activity, is especially striking at dawn when the first light of day enhances the contrast between the white vapor and the reddish soil. Visiting Sol de Mañana is a unique experience, allowing visitors to closely observe the power and beauty of geothermal activity at its peak.
Laguna Colorada - Laguna Colorada, located in the department of Potosí, Bolivia, is a stunning saline lake known for its red-hued waters. Situated 4,278 meters above sea level in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, its distinctive color is due to the sediments and pigments of algae thriving in its waters. This lake is a crucial habitat for thousands of Andean flamingos, adding a breathtaking contrast to the landscape. The combination of colors, along with the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, makes Laguna Colorada a must-visit destination for nature and photography enthusiasts.
Aguas Termales de Polques - After visiting the Sol de Mañana geysers, the journey returns to the main road to reach Polques, where visitors can enjoy a hot spring bath in the town of Polques, an area where an Andean lagoon meets a salt flat.
Laguna Verde - The Laguna Verde, in the department of Potosí, Bolivia, is a natural wonder with crystal-clear waters and emerald green hues. Located at an altitude of approximately 4,300 meters above sea level, this lagoon is situated in the Bolivian highlands, near the border with Chile. Its intense green color is due to high concentrations of magnesium and other minerals in the water, contrasting spectacularly with the arid environment and the snow-capped mountains surrounding it.
Uyuni - The city of Uyuni marks the final point of the trip, where visitors will be taken to their hotel, concluding the service.
