Had an amazing tour! - We did the 3 day tour and had an amazing time! The communication with the company was good and the trip well organized. Our guide Dennis took care of everything. What we really liked is that we could see his passion for the nature and the country. Also our driver Bici did a great job. The landscape was incredible, we recommend this tour!

Unforgettable! So much more than perspective photos - We recently completed the 3-day Uyuni Salt Flats tour, and it was an unforgettable experience, thanks to our exceptional guide, José. From start to finish, José displayed the highest level of professionalism. He was not only a safe and skilled driver, navigating the rugged terrain with ease, but also a wealth of knowledge. At every site, he provided insightful information that made us appreciate the beauty and significance of each location and Bolivia's history so much more. He took great photos of us and got us over to the Chile border on time and well prepared. When another company's 4WD broke down, José didn't hesitate to offer assistance. He graciously took one of their passengers with us for two stops while their car was being fixed, ensuring she didn’t miss out on the experience. His selflessness and dedication to making the tour enjoyable for everyone, even those not in his care, speak volumes about his character. The landscapes we explored were stunning, but it was José who made this tour exceptional. His knowledge, professionalism, and heart truly enhanced the entire experience. Highly recommended!

Amazing!!! - I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It was exceptionally well organised, the drivers were amazing and we always felt so safe, the food was delicious and way above the standard we were expecting and the accommodation was good too. The thing that made this tour so exceptional was our guide, Jose. Jose was unbelievably knowledgeable, he catered to the interests of all of the group and brought so much energy to the few days. He went above and beyond to get us to places without many (or, when possible, any) tourists and also to give us an unforgettable time. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone, and consider yourself very lucky if Jose is your guide!

Dreamlike landscapes, flamingos and much more - We were picked up from the airport in Uyuni in the morning. The tour is really varied. Not only the salt desert, but also the lagoons with the flamingos inspired us. The lagoons are embedded in a truly breathtaking landscape. The organization couldn't have been better. Driver and guide were very nice. The guide spoke very good English and knew a lot of interesting things to report. We were handed in on the third day at the border with Chile. From there, the minibus ride to San Pedro was arranged for us. The three days were an absolute highlight for us.

Best 40th Birthday Uyuni Trip! - My boyfriend, my friend and I went on a 3D/2N private superior tour with Andes Salt Expeditions; and it was absolutely phenomenal. The views were breathtaking, the photos were awesome, our tour guide and driver were the most accomodating, helpful and friendly people --- making the tour just the most memorable experience; a perfect way to celebrate my 40th! From the start, they were already very organised. They arrived early at our hotel, and managed to put us at ease in the first few minutes of meeting Edwin the tour guide and Marco the bus driver. Edwin could speak English fluently and he was very friendly and funny, making us feel comfortable and relaxed from the start. Marco, although could only speak a bit of English, was always smiling, and would join in in the laughter. These two, as far as I'm concerned, is what made this tour great. As soon as they arrived, they explained our itinerary, and we needed to do a few admin things -- settle the payment, pick up gum boots for the playing in the wet salt flats, and pick up our food for the day. Our first stop was the train cemetery, where straight away, Edwin took awesome photos of us! I love taking photos, and so it was so great to have a guide who was not only good at taking photos, but also keen to! We went to a few other spots on the day, but the main highlight for me was playing in the Salt Flats, and doing silly perspective photos. Edwin was very prepared had all different props and had so many ideas! It was so fun just to play around and be silly, and get great shots from it! We also went to a spot where there was a bit of water ( I really appreciate that even tho it wasn't wet season, they still managed to find a spot where there was a bit of water) and we took amazing sunset photos! We stayed at Palacio de Sal. The hotel was majestic and was made of salt! so cool! The room was so comfortable, the food was so delicious, and we had a very nice stay. There was a pool and spa at the place too but we were too tired to go there after a long, eventful day. The second day started early -- with amazing sunrise photos. But... I missed it. I chose to sleep in. But my friend and my boyfriend got the best photos! Truly what people come to the Salt flats for! The second day also happened to be my 40th birthday (reason why I came to South America to celebrate). To my surprise Edwin and Marco had a planned surprise for me. At lunch, they had a surprise birthday cake for me! It was so sweet and unexpected! They truly went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special. I truly appreciate their efforts!!! The final day was a lot more of the amazing views -- lakes and mountain views! We saw flamingos and went for a dip in a thermal pool! This had a lot more driving than the other two days though, and we're up a much higher altitude. So be ready for the altitude sickness -- it got quite bad for me. But again, Edwin always looking after us, gave me some medication and some coca leaves! (some fun to try while in Bolivia!) He also checked in and made sure I was doing well. Something that also happened on the tour -- I got my passport wet accidentally. Edwin and Marco helped a lot -- trying to dry the passport as best they can and checking in to make sure it was ok. It was something they didn't need to do, but was really appreciated the extra level of care they added to the trip. Overall, the Uyuni Flats was the highlight of my South American tour -- the views were breathtaking, the Salt Flats felt like a once-in-a-lifetime-experience, the tour was very organised, the hotels were very posh, the food was delicious, but I think what takes the cake for me on this tour is the extraordinary effort that our tour guides Marco and Edwin (especially Edwin! best tour guide ever!) made to make this trip truly unforgettable! 10/10 for this tour and the best guides!

3D/2N Tour - Our Guide Edwin did everything, so that we have 3 awesome days in the Salar as in the Andes. Unfortunately our Driver Bernardo do not speak English but it wasn't a problem, we managed to communicate and laughed a lot with him.

Fine, but not as great as I had hoped for! - Scenery was beautiful and food was generally pretty good! Cars weren’t in the greatest condition, we also only had one English speaking host for 2 groups, despite paying to have one per group. Our guide was okay. They could really benefit from having radios or satellite phones in order to have contact with the other driver etc if necessary (especially when cars can break down).

Amazing landscapes; terrible tour company - We recently took the 3 day 2 night tour to the Salt Flats and Coloured Lagoons with Andes Salt Expeditions Tour Operator starting in Uyuni, Bolivia. We chose this company due to their positive reviews and listing through Viator. The positive side is the scenery and places you get to see and our tour group certainly bonded well. Unfortunately the tour company is potentially the worst I have ever used which really did spoil a lot of the tour. 1. From the beginning our guide was very rude, often chasing us to be ready at certain times and not being ready himself or disappearing off and blaming us for the delays in the schedule. There would sometimes be delays and he would provide no information until the group repeatedly prompted him. This probably did help the group bonding as all of us were left extremely unimpressed. 2. The food was abysmal. Ironically for a tour which included the salt flats, all of the food was completely unseasoned and meal times certainly took the group morale down as we recieved more boiled vegetables, plain pasta, unseasoned quinoa and bland meat. Evening meals were marginally better as some dishes included small amout of cheese. 3. Our wider tour group included a vegan and although the company says they will cater for this, they do not. I watched our vegan companion be served some of the most appalling options I have seen in my life, including a tin of cold chickpeas and rice. He and the rest of the group had to take it upon ourselves to remind the guide at every stop that he was there and they had said they would provide for him. The guide did not seem bothered about a member of the group ending up with extremely meagre options. 4. We were travelling as a married same-sex couple. Despite Bolivia being overall welcoming, this tour is not welcoming to LGBT+ people. Heterosexual couples were allowed to share beds with efforts being made to make sure this could be accommodated. It was clear that the guide was not interested in helping us with this and forced us to stay in two single beds on both nights, despite us raising this issue on the first night to try and get it resolved. I would be more understanding if this was the prevailing culture, but is not the case in Bolivia. 5. Although the trip is advertised as 3 days, 2 nights if you opt to finish in San Pedro de Atacama, the trip is under 48 hours and so cannot be justifiably described as 3 days. Day 1 starts at around 10.30am, while you are rushed to be ath the border before 9am on Day 3 where your guided trip ends. You have to pay the same as those getting the full 3 days, and even are subject to an additional $20USD charge per person for the bus across the border which is not guided nor does it include lunch which it does if you are returning to Uyuni. I cannot quite work out why there are these additional costs when we have already paid for a full extra day that we do not get to experience and that we have to pay for our own lunch. 6. This trip was one of the more expensive we took in South America, however the true cost is much higher as it does not include a number of entry costs, all toilets have to be paid for and the tour provides no water whatsoever (which is very unusual and poor service compared to our other tours in the area). 7. At the border to leave Bolivia there is a free 'slow' queue and a fast 'paid for' queue. The guide with us was pushing the group to get into the paid for queue to try to get everyone to pay even more money for something which is free. She tried to justify this by saying it happens everywhere but I have never experienced a registered tour guide trying to push people the people on their own tour towards a scam so blatantly. She also told the group that they could miss the bus waiting in the slow queue. Again this is a lie as the bus driver is obligated to wait until everyone he expects to transport into Chile is on board. 8. On the second morning we were woken up very early for a sunrise view. The group was stood around waiting for almost 45 minutes ready to go with no information. It turned out that one of the drivers had not appeared in the morning so we entirely missed sunrise. The people on the tour were only provided with information when we tracked down the guide and asked what was going on. This was the worst example of a regular issue whereby the guides would not tell us what was happening despite often chasing us to be ready when not ready themselves and being generally rude towards the tour group. 9. The missing driver meant that our group of ten was split with five going now and five a bit later. We asked the tour guide if we would see the friends we had made again later in the day and the guide confirmed we would meet up again shortly. Upon starting our drive, the driver explained what was happening in more detail which confirmed the guide had lied to our faces moments before and we would not get to say farewell to the rest of the group. This was a disappointing end to our group travel but reflective yet again of the guide's unnecessary rudeness and general unkindness. 10. This final trip left us with only a Spanish-speaking driver and the guides solution to this was just to tell our Spanish speaking companion who was a paying member of the tour that she had to act as translator. I should also add here that breakfast on Day 3 was at 4.50am due to the sunrise we never saw and that for those crossing the border there is no opportunity to get lunch (not included despite paying the same as those returning to Uyuni who do get lunch) until reaching San Pedro de Atacama over 7 hours later. Overall, this is perhaps the worst run tour company I have experienced in my travels. The company is certainly relying on the beauty of the places they take you to as the treatment of paying customers is really bad. People in Bolivia are very kind, welcoming and warm, however this tour company felt like it was deliberately trying to spoil this reputation and my memory of what Bolivian hospitality is like.
