Our small group of 7 prepared 4 recipes and then sat and shared our efforts. - We had an excellent experience in the hands-on cooking class! I would highly recommend it to others. Martha was a great teacher and also provided history and background on Charleston Low Country foods. Having a small group gave everyone an opportunity to prepare food and get to know each other.

Making these recipes on repeat! - Martha and Jessie were fantastic! We enjoyed hearing the local stories and history intertwined with the cooking lesson and are thrilled to have 3 recipes that we will be making on repeat. I was especially thrilled to learn two ways to make flaky and soft biscuits. My Dad once told me that with a case of shoe polish and a few more batches of my biscuits, I could get a contract with the National Hockey League... But now I know the tricks for delicious biscuits! We can't wait to schedule another event!

Learn to make southern classics! - We had a fantastic experience at this hands-on cooking class in Charleston! My 80 year old mom and I gathered in a cozy building tucked behind The Gin Joint (a bit tricky to find, but well worth it once you're there), and were warmly welcomed by a knowledgeable and passionate Lowcountry cook. The class was informative, engaging, and so much fun. We learned to make a variety of Southern classics—Pimento Cheese Dip, Callie’s iconic Buttermilk Biscuits, a decadent Huguenot Torte, and Sherried Whipped Cream—all while learning about the rich history and cultural roots of each dish. The instructor struck the perfect balance between teaching technique and letting us jump in to try things ourselves. The cooks and other folks in the group were also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating of my 80-year-old mother, making sure she was comfortable and could fully participate. Best of all, participants are allowed to take home extra food. This was an unforgettable experience that truly captured the spirit and flavor of Charleston. Highly recommend!
