- Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center - Begin by meeting the guide at the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge for a leisurely 1-mile birdwatching walk. (1 hour) The guide will provide backpacks, equipment, and binoculars, and will go over safety procedures before the tour begins.
Next, drive to the Bass Creek Overlook Trailhead, (45 minutes) where a 2-mile hike (1 hour 30 minutes) along a gentle trail offers breathtaking views of Bass Creek, over 3000 feet above the valley floor! Midway through the hike, there will be a break to enjoy a snack, sip a fresh cup of tea or coffee, and reapply sunscreen.
Afterward, return to the trailhead and proceed to the next destination, Bell Crossing River Access! (45 minutes) Here, enjoy a charcuterie picnic by the Bitterroot River. (1 hour 30 minutes)
Finally, travel to Lake Como (45 minutes) for a relaxing float on the water in packrafts! (4 packrafts per group) (1 hour 30 minutes)
