Best cooking class in Utawatuna, Sri Lanka - An exciting and exceptional cooking class. Simple and delicious home cooked food that is not only amazing but tasty. Chef Susanti was patient, explained everything well and so forthcoming with her recipes. Price was reasonable. We enjoyed the fruits of our labour. Will be back for more lessons next year. Highly recommend.

A must do activity if you want to learn how to make delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry dishes - A truly exceptional cooking class to learn about home cooked Sri Lankan food. We had tried the food at their restaurant the night before, were very impressed, and decided to sign up to the class the next day. We started by going to the fish and vegetable market near Galle Fort, where Susanthi explained all the different types of fish and vegetables, which was super helpful as the day before we were struggling to find out which was which. We then got to choose what we wanted to cook and she shows you how to pick good quality ingredients. The class itself was very insightful, where Susanthi explained useful cooking techniques and let us get hands on in cutting and cooking the items. We learned a lot and got to enjoy the delicious food after too!

A class to remember! - I booked in for a cooking class with Susanthi at Sea Waves Cooking School in Unawatuna, which was highly highly recommended by a friend of mine who had attended Sea Waves cooking school in 2019. As the morning class was full, Susanthi ran a special one on one class for me in the afternoon, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although I am not a vegetarian I opted for vegetable dishes to recreate back home in the UK. We went to a local vegetable market by tuk tuk, which was an experience in itself, and Susanthi encouraged me to pick a range of my favourite vegetables to cook with. Having really enjoyed the local coconut Sambal in Sri Lanka and onion Sambal, I asked she could show me how to make these dishes, and she was more than happy to add these to the menu. The class itself was highly interactive, we talked a lot about the food, the cooking process, the spices used, Sri Lanka etc. Susanthi is a highly experienced chef with considerable experience and culinary knowledge. Susanthi really made me feel at home, as did her family. At the end of the class I was able to enjoy what I can only describe as the best meal so far in Sri Lanka. Susanthi also provided all the recipes of the dishes we had made (pumpkin curry, bean curry, spicy Dahl, eggplant and tomato salad and the two Sambal dishes). She also advised me as to where I can buy spices to take back to the UK with me, although in her cooking, she makes all her own spices from scratch. In a nutshell, I highly recommend Susanthi and her Sea Waves cooking school as a great learning and tasting opportunity!

Review cooking class sea waves cooking class - It was a great experience to be able to take cooking class here. You will get to know the real Sri Lankan cuisine. First we went to the fish market with the group. So you can see the local market and how it all works. Very interesting! Afterwards we went to the vegetable market together, again very interesting! And after that the most important thing is the cooking class itself. It was very educational, there was a good atmosphere and it was very tasty. The hostess is also very sweet! Definitely recommended!!!

Such a great experience!! - I did today and the cooking class with Susanthi and it was really great! I was alone so it was kind of a private cooking class. We went shopping with the tuktuk first and then made different curries together...sooo delicious! I'll definitely do it at home. The place is beautiful in nature and is just great. I highly recommend the cooking class!
