Trolltunga hike is possible with arthritic knees but train for it - I got the impression from many Youtube videos that the hike involved a climb up and then hiking/walking on a plateau. In reality, the Trolltunga hike is gruelling. I prepared for the hike at home by hiking 10km in hot tropical rainforest for about 9 months. But it was not possible to prepare for the mountain terrain in Trolltunga at home. There are a lot of uphill and downhill climb on rocks and mud. The group I joined in the overnight hike in Trolltunga Adventures was a group of young people from Germany, China, US and Singapore. I was the oldest and the mother of the young Singaporean man. My training provided me with the ability and stamina to hike long distances but the steps up/down took a toll on my arthritic knees. Every step up and down was painful. Our group naturally separated into a group of fast and experienced hikers and a second group of slower and inexperienced hikers. One guide stuck with the faster hikers and another with the slower hikers. The guide with the slower hikers for the most part was Albert. He is an exceptional guide who with his sunny disposition encouraged us and took really good care of us, often regaling us with tales from the Norse mythology to distract us from the gruelling climb. Both our guides including Larke provided us with delicious meals and took good care of us to make sure we climb up and down safely. I would not have been able to complete the Trolltunga hike safely without them.

Great tour with all-round carefree package - The hike to Trolltunga is very challenging with 10 km there and back and 540 meters in altitude. Therefore, we decided to take the 2-day tour with Trolltunga Adventures. What can I say? ES was just the right decision. Our guides Paul, Thea and Laerke were just GREAT !!! Thanks to you for the great trip. The camp and tents were very clean including the sleeping bags. ES has not lacked anything. This tour is highly recommended because there is enough time scheduled for evening and morning at Trolltunga. Without standing in line.

Absolutely recommended! - Challenging but beautiful hike. Our guide EN Jim, Mathilde and Lisa have guided us excellently. They really spoiled EN us with tasty snacks on the way and a delicious reindeer stew for dinner. Because you stay a short distance from Trolltunga you are there when there are no other tourists. So no queues! Definitely recommended!

Truly A Bucket List Item! - The overnight hike was the crown jewel in our recent trip to Norway. Our guides, Matilda and Joshua were both exceptional! They wore a half-dozen hats to ensure both optimal safety and experience. On a personal note... My wife & I are both 60 years of age. We're in reasonable physical shape but would've struggled with a single day hike. So the overnight hike was perfect for us. Another huge benefit with the overnight hike was the ZERO wait time for photos. Superb overall experience!

One in a lifetime experience - Incredible experience. The guides Mathilde and Josh were brilliant - we had regular stops with snacks, and delicious meals. No one felt rushed or left behind. The views are spectacular - and we even had a late night hike for a dip in a pool a little further up! Couldn't recommend more

Unforgettable overnight hike visiting Trolltunga! - Our hike to Trolltunga was on July 2 with our family of 6. Our children are 8, 9, 13, 15. My husband and oldest daughter are experienced hikers but we chose to break the hike up into two days with the overnight stay for our youngest kids and it was the right call. Took us 7.5 hours to reach camp and 5.5 hours down to P3 the following day. (P2 to P3 is just a steep climb on an asphalt road that we happily skipped.) Our one and only guide was Synne, who was an absolute delight and pleasure to have and she wore many hats: a fantastic cheerleader, informational guide, provider of all the sweet snacks, wonderful conversationalist for our kids, amazing cook and cleaner at camp, and a treasured acquaintance we hope to reconnect with again one day. Her sunny disposition and positive attitude was the perfect complement for our family. We were very fortunate with fantastic weather and took advantage with a dip in the glacial lake up top, which Synne described as, "a bit refreshing!" Our 13 year old hiked with a low grade fever but something about either the fresh mountain air, a good sweat, the hearty reindeer stew, the icy polar plunge or the knee weakening photos on the famous rock ledge had her better by the time she came back down. I would easily say the highlight was the overnight camp- it was the cherry on top that we never knew we needed. The views alone surrounding camp... breathtakingly surreal. But it also allowed us to experience Trolltunga before and after all the crowds and we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. And something about sitting around a bonfire on reindeer skins, surrounded by majestic mountains and glaciers makes s'mores taste all the better. Synne brought us breakfast in bed consisting of a hearty bowl of oatmeal and coffee/ hot chocolate before we packed up and made the trek out. TIP: bring many layers of clothing as the weather can turn drastically and very quickly. We hiked up in shorts and hiked down in every layer we packed and parkas would've been nice if we had them. Rain is the norm. Sleep masks and bathing suits are a good idea this time of year too. DO NOT hesitate to book if you are on the fence about a guided hike with Trolltunga Adventures. It can be done any way, but we don't think we would have been able to squeeze out every last enjoyable drop of this experience had we just done it by ourselves. Thank you TA and thank you, Synne for our wonderful memories!
