A fun incense-making experience! - We enjoyed the version of this tour that included a matcha-themed kaiseki lunch and it was really fun. The location was right next to the river, and we walked easily across the island in the middle of the Uji river to the shrine where the green-tea kneaded incense class was held. Our interpreter was helpful and fun, and it was fun to mix the left-over tea into clay. Choosing the forms was fun--there were many traditional and geometric shapes to choose from. We left with eight shapes that smell lovely over the tealight burner (also included in the package). I learned that you can purchase green tea essential oil as well, once the smell starts to fade, to freshen it up. We enjoyed both the lunch and the kneaded incense making.
