Kibale National Park - Breakfast: Enjoy a buffet-style breakfast at the lodge starting at 6:30am, offering both American and continental options.
Morning: The day begins with checking out of the lodge. At approximately 8:15am, embark on a 4-hour safari vehicle journey to Kibale Forest. Arrive in the charming town of Fort Portal, where you can admire the magnificent palace of the Toro Kingdom, the Royal tombs, various shops, and the mosque before continuing to Kibale Forest, just a few kilometers away. Upon arrival, check into Primates Lodge Kibale. Kibale National Park is renowned for hosting the largest number of primates in East Africa, including chimpanzees, baboons, black & white colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys.
Kanyanchu Visitor Center - Afternoon: Participate in a primate walk to Kanyanchu River Camp, the most popular walk in the park. This walk takes you through diverse flora zones and reveals numerous wild animals residing in the forest. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Dinner: Served at the lodge around 6:30pm, featuring a hot appetizer, main course with a side dish, and dessert.
Evening: After dinner, enjoy the evening at your leisure, whether by having a drink at the bar area or relaxing in your room before heading to Queen Elizabeth in the morning.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Nat Park
Kibale National Park - Morning: Experience the thrill of chimpanzee tracking as the forest opens its doors. Kibale Forest is known for its diverse and dense primate population in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest to spot chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and more. Spend an unforgettable hour observing the chimpanzees in their natural habitat as they feed, play, groom, care for their young, and communicate.
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Afternoon: After the trek, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range for most of the journey. Arrive in time for a game drive to see predators returning from their hideouts along Kasenyi tracks and Queens Mile. This evening drive offers the chance to see lions, leopards, giant forest hogs, Cape buffaloes, elephants, Defassa waterbucks, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs, topi, bushbucks, and various bird species.
Dinner: Served at the main dining area around 6:30pm, with a selection of hot menu items.
Evening: Relax in the lounge dining tent area or around the campfire to discuss the day’s wildlife with fellow travelers, or retire to your tent to rest before the next day’s adventures.
Wildlife Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable
Queen Elizabeth National Park - Morning: After breakfast, depart for Bwindi with an en-route game drive in the park, searching for the famous tree-climbing lions. The chance of seeing them in the trees depends on the day’s luck.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Afternoon: After lunch, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through the lush countryside, passing traditional homesteads and enjoying panoramic views of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival in Bwindi National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, check in for dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Kigali
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Activity Note: Today’s mountain gorilla trek typically involves two to four hours of walking through dense brush over steep, rugged terrain at elevations between 7,000 and 9,000 feet. The trek may include exposure to stinging nettles and red ants. To protect the gorillas, human contact is limited to one hour, and they may retreat into the bush before the allotted time. Travelers showing signs of illness may be denied entry by park authorities.
Kigali - Afternoon: Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your flight home. Stop in the city for a brief tour and visit the genocide memorial before heading to the airport.
Evening: Airport transfer for your flight home.
