Amazing Safari experience in Sri Lanka! - Our safari in Sri Lanka was an unforgettable adventure! We spotted elephants, a varanus, an elusive sakal, water buffalo, a pelican, and even a peacock. Watching elephants roam freely was the highlight, and the stunning landscapes added to the magic. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the experience even more exciting. The jeep was comfortable, and we felt safe throughout the journey. He also helped us with arranging many other things around Sri Lanka. If you’re visiting Sri Lanka, a safari is a must! We left with incredible memories and a deep appreciation for the country’s wildlife. Highly recommended!

A wonderful experience of a guided tour through the park. - We had the most amazing day and were looked after so well. We saw so many different animals- elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, mongoose and so many birds including Toucans and Peacocks. We took a longer 7 hour trip deeper into the park and it was definitely worth it. Our guide was very informative and provided us with the most delicious lunch. Such a good day!

Udawalawe National park - Home For the Elephants - Having been to see the orphaned elephants the day before we were so very keen to experience this park. We were up at 4:30 am and met buy our guide at 5:30 am armed with our takeaway breakfasts from the hotel. We drove the 10 or so minutes to the entrance to the park and met our driver and boarded the jeep. Our guide was with us to assist the driver with points of interest. Oh my goodness what an experience. It is mainly an elephant park, and we were so lucky to see many of them. But the flowers, wildlife and birds were stunning. We started at the dawn of the day and finished late morning and did not want to leave. The driver was first class and kept pointing out so many things for us to see. The highlight was that as we started to cross a small road bridge a heard of elephants came out of the bush and wanted to cross the bridge and have a drink in the water that was on the other side. Our driver backed the other jeeps behind us up and created the space for the elephants to cross. We were so close to them it was amazing. Thank you to the driver for taking such care of the elephants.

Great safari - Booked an afternoon safari 14.00-18.00. Gimhana was our guide and communicated all the information we needed prior to arrival. He arrived in a high quality Jeep, which we had to ourselves, making it a personalised experience. Gimhana went above and beyond to make sure we saw as many animals as possible, taking different routes and stopping at the right locations so we maximised our time and experience. We saw a variety of different elephants close up throughout the park as well as buffalo, crocodiles, monkeys and peacocks. Gimhana was knowledgable about all the animals and stopped in each location for as long as we needed. Highly recommend this safari when visiting Sri Lanka!

Excellent 4 hour safari! - Fantastic 4 hour safari! We had a lovely driver called Gimhana, who was really friendly and helped us spot lots of different wildlife. He especially helped us identify different birds, which we hadn’t spotted on previous safaris. I would definitely recommend this safari tour of Udawalawe!

Highly recommended! - We booked 3 safaris with Gimhana during our stay at Udawalawe (1 in the afternoon starting at 14:00, then 1 in the morning starting at 6:00 and another the same day at 2pm once again) based on the TripAdvisor and Google Maps’s reviews. And we were not disappointed. Gimhana was on time and he was extremely nice and polite. We had the jeep to ourselves (my mother and I), so lots of space for our backpack with photo gear). He also provided water bottles, which was nice. The jeep is comfortable, but the safari is very bumpy, so be prepared in case you have back issues for exemple. Gimhana does try to smooth the ride as best as he can, though. Udawalawe is a beautiful national park. The scenery is gorgeous, especially when you’re near the water. The number of animals you will spot depends on many factors, so you can’t expect to see everything (or you just might), but Gimhana and the other safari guides present on site try to find you the most animals possible. He will also explain you about the species you encounter and has a guide book and an App that he shares so that you can take notes about what you saw. I would suggest you bring a light jacket if it’s the morning safari in case you get easily cold, a bottle of water that you left overnight in the freezer (it will quickly get hot), good binoculars or better yet a camera with a nice zoom (600mm equivalent on the telephoto end, or even more, but also a wide zoom for closeups and landscapes). Don’t drink too much before the safari as you won’t be able to go to the toilet for a few hours and eat something light if you have the tendency to get car sick. We didn’t have problems with bugs, but we do recommend bringing sunglasses just to protect your eyes as dust and other small foreign bodies can fly around with all the jeeps going by and they can irritate your eyes. The hat was not needed as his jeep has a roof and our heads were covered, but sunscreen is advisable 👍 Excellent safaris and great guide, who deserves all the nice reviews. P.S.: our best photos are still on the camera’s SD cards, these are just a few simple shots taken with the iPhone during the game drives 👍 We saw many elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, various gorgeous birds, lizards, and more 😍

Amazing activity for a family - Amazing trip. We've seen more animals than in Yala National Park. The driver was very nice and he took care about our family with 1.5 year old baby. I can fully recommend!
