You will be picked up from your Ubud hotel at 7am and driven to the Pejeng market to join the locals in shopping for the freshest produce. Putu will introduce you to the seasonal fruits, vegetables and spices on offer and you’ll pick up a few ingredients for your cooking lesson. You will spend about 30 minutes at the market before driving to Putu’s home to start cooking together. The market offers wonderful photo opportunities, so don’t forget to bring your camera! Join Putu in the kitchen for a hands-on cooking lesson. You’ll work together to prepare 2-3 authentic Balinese dishes and as you chop, grind and grill Putu will teach you about the spices she uses in her family recipes and the medicinal qualities of Balinese ingredients. Putu’s kitchen is simple, with only a two burner cooktop, and you are sure to be impressed by the speed and fluidity with which she can prepare a complex menu with multiple dishes. Amazing food and a brilliant family experience! - This was a brilliant experience. We took a tour of a market place first, learning about the many different local ingredients, then went back to the farm to cook. The course was really great for a family activity - there were many different courses to prepare so everyone was involved. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, inviting us into her home and showing us the workings of a typical Balinese farm. And the food we made together was absolutely delicious! My only regret is that I'd eaten breakfast beforehand (still we are able to box up the copious quantities of food we didn't eat there and are looking forward to having them later!)

Very great experience - Putu picked us up at our accommodation. She gave us all kinds of information about Balinese fruit and vegetables at a local market. Afterwards we cooked at her home. She told us a lot about the dishes and Balinese traditions. 100% recommendable!

The best cooking class EVER!! - What an experience. Putu and her husband made this tour so memorable. From the moment they picked us up Putu was so kind and accomodating. We enjoyed breakfast from their local market and she served it in her home with coffee. We cooked 6 traditional dishes one was a bonus dish because we mentioned we loved a water spinach dish we tried at a Warung. Putu grabbed some from the market while we were there to cook the dish for us. After we ate the amazing food at her home we toured her lovely garden. Luckily, we had the pleasure of seeing her village temple where once a year they have a celebration for the farmers. Putu took us with her for the blessing ceremony. The whole experience felt so personalised & we even took all the left overs for dinner!! I cannot explain how special this whole thing was & it’s an experience I’ll never forget. I will be coming to visit again in their villa once it’s built and doing the class next time I’m in Bali definitely!!!

Amazing cooking class with local feeling - We had a wonderful day with Putu, a very empathic and peaceful person. She showed us the local market, her impressive house and garden with so many vegetables and ingredients we used to cook. The cooking class was very fun. We learned a lot and the food was amazing. Thank you so much for having us. We highly recommend this tour. Leonie & David

Highlight of our trip! - We had such an incredible time with Putu! She and her husband picked us up from our villa in Ubud for a local market tour where we were actually the only tourists. We then headed to her village where she gave us a tour of her home temple and beautiful property. Putu gave us a very in-depth overview of Bali culture and customs and was happy to answer all our questions about Bali life. Putu’s class was so intentionally put together—not only was the food amazing but we felt very engaged throughout because she was such an attentive host and teacher. I do cooking classes all the time when I travel but I can honestly say this was one of the best travel experiences I have had. I would highly recommend this activity if you are looking for an authentic, local Bali experience.

Authentic, traditional, educational experience - Putu was very welcoming, hospitable and informative. We felt privileged to experience a little of traditional Balinese life in a beautiful self-sufficient village community. The cooking class was great: well organised and a fun family activity; and the food was delicious.
