- Kingstone Asilia: Coffee Tours, Restaurant, and Bar in the Bush - Visitors are warmly invited to the Kingstone Asilia Family Farm, nestled in the lush, tranquil outskirts of Arusha. Here, guests will learn about the rich history of coffee, its journey to Tanzania, and experience the traditional processing methods still in use today.
Guests will also discover traditional Tanzanian medicinal plants and enjoy entertaining stories about their uses. Depending on the season, there may be an opportunity to plant a small coffee plant in the plantation. The tour continues to the mature coffee trees, where participants can pick ripe coffee cherries to fill a basket for processing.
Using a traditional hand-powered pulping machine, guests will remove the pulp from the coffee cherry. Pre-dried beans will be pounded with a lively song and dance to remove the outer layer, followed by roasting and grinding the beans to create a delightful cup of self-processed coffee, accompanied by a traditional Tanzanian snack.
The tour concludes with a delicious home-cooked vegetarian lunch, prepared by our chef using fresh ingredients.
