- Black Virgin Mountain - Ba Den Mountain, situated northeast of Tay Ninh City, stands as a renowned and iconic landmark in South Vietnam. This majestic mountain is part of the cultural and historical relic complex of Ba Den, located about 100 kilometers from the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh City.
With an impressive height of 986 meters, it is the tallest peak in the southern region of Vietnam. This towering elevation adds to the site’s charm, drawing visitors from near and far. The natural beauty surrounding Ba Den Mountain is truly captivating, offering breathtaking landscapes that enchant all who visit.
- Cao Dai Temple - The Cao Dai Holy See, established in 1926, is located 4km east of Tay Ninh in the village of Long Hoa. In addition to the Great Temple, the complex includes administrative offices, residences for officials and adepts, and a hospital specializing in traditional Vietnamese herbal medicine, attracting people from across the south for its treatments. While Buddhism and Christianity are well-known in Vietnam, Caodaism remains relatively lesser-known. As the youngest religion in the country, Caodaism uniquely blends elements from various major religions into its practices. The Tay Ninh Holy See, also known locally as Cao Dai Temple, embodies this intriguing belief system. Prayers are held four times daily in the Great Temple (suspended during Tet). Visiting during prayer sessions is recommended (the noon session is particularly popular with tour groups from HCMC). Only a few hundred followers, dressed in splendid attire, participate in weekday prayers, but during festivals, several thousand may attend.
- Ben Duoc Tunnel Complex - Escape the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City to explore a relic from one of the most significant local historical events in recent memory.
The journey takes 2 hours west towards the Cambodian border. On the way to the Cu Chi tunnels, one can observe local life in the area, both past and present. Discover their lives, culture, and customs, gaining insight into the recent past through local perspectives.
The tunnels’ location held significant strategic importance: they are at the end of the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail and within striking distance of the southern Vietnam capital. Initial construction began in 1948 when the Viet Minh needed a place to hide from French air attacks, and by 1965, the tunnel complex was estimated to consist of 200 km of tunnels. It included hospitals, schools, meeting rooms, kitchens, and sleeping quarters. Life was challenging for the inhabitants, and to protect against outside intruders, booby traps were laid throughout the complex.
