An excellent experience - It was better than anticipated! The explanation about the Maori culture was informative. We enjoyed the formal Haka and the move into the informal groups to learn about the Maori culture. The team were huge fun and made a real effort to ensure everyone enjoyed themselves. The meal afterwards was plentiful and good quality. We weren't expecting the musical entertainment at the end - an excellent and fun way to close the event. The whole team worked really hard and seemed to enjoy themselves (rather than 'it's another event'). We came away lifted and happy. Well done to the team!

A Worthwhile High-Level Maori Exposure - Our evening at Te Pa Tu was important, enjoyable, and valuable. For context, it is important to be careful in managing expectations, of this example of single-evening exposure to Maori culture, customs and food, to largely uninformed groups of tourists. These must necessarily be brief, limited and superficial, as we have experienced many times in similar contexts in our global travels - for example, in Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Cambodia, Thailand, Poland and Hungary. That said, a deep theme in our extended New Zealand visit was the Maori importance and influence, in language and communications, public policy and behaviors, museums and other public buildings. Recommended - for those willing to be open, curious, respectful, and realistic.

A must do - What a wonderful experience. The people are so warm and inviting, such a pleasure watching them share their love of their culture and traditions. The performances were wonderful and we had so much fun learning and participating in some of the games. The food was delicious.

Amazing Te Pa Tu in Rotorua - Cannot Miss Once-In-A-Lifetime experience - The most amazing cultural immersion experience we have ever seen. The whole ceremony at the beginning (with the pohiri) and then the immersion at the different stations learning different aspects of Maori life were all fabulous. The hangi dinner was great (even though we are vegetarian, few options available). The ginger tea at the learning station with the poi was great. The haka is awesome and the final song and dance experience in the community hall was out of this world. Highly recommend this for anyone visiting as a must-do.

A must do in Rotorua - We decided to go on this cultural tour whilst in Rotorua. So pleased we did. We met at the gathering spot in town and were taken to the village by bus. We were then welcomed to the village by the chief and taken through a series of learning experiences of Māori life and culture together with some canapé. We then witnessed the most wonderful singing and dancing by a very very talented group of people. Their voices were awesome. Then taken to a sit down meal with another 100 odd guests. The food was excellent although a few more service staff would have been helpful. The night ended with the most beautiful singing by one of the village ladies who belted out songs from those present … music from their countries. Such a talented and beautiful girl who ended a wonderful night for us all… it was very emotional to say thanks to her for her performance

The dinner portion was... - The dinner portion was very disappointing. Seemed I was eating in any other restaurant. Didn’t had any unique Māori meals. They showed us how they cook the meals and there was some potato, but potato were never was served. Overall presentation was nice.
