Chichen itza was an amazing experience. Our guide Esther was extremely knowledgeable and adept at keeping us safe. Our driver - Esther knew all the details about the history of the locations and how to pay respect to the ancestors. It was an amazing voyage in time.

Chichen Itza tour with a funny guy and so so much more!! - Cancun Bay Tours with Roberto and his driver Miguel was a great trip!!! It included transportation round trip, entrance fee, the certified tour guide that explains about the temples, a Mexican buffet lunch (not a cheap box lunch) the visit to the cenote and visit of Valladolid Mexican town for chocolate and churros. I paid more than TripAdvisor offered
so book here!

Disappointed and Disappointing - Not the most positive review but want to give you a good taste of what we experienced
. We booked the Chichen Plus Tour for six adults through Playa del Carmen Tours. We were told to arrive at our pick up spot at 6 45 am. We were there and the driver met us shortly after 7. We had three other pick up points to fill the coach and eventually left Playa Del Carmen at 8 30 am. At this point, we were given a very dry sandwich which no one ate other than a couple of bites and a bottle of water. We were also told that the itinerary changed and we were going to cenote first. Disappointing but expected from previous reviews. The cenote was very good. After the cenote swim, we went to a Mayan Village just down the road. This was way too long of a visit. It wasn’t even a part of our tour agenda!!!! We watched a few of their ceremonies, games and were allowed to browse their ‘handcrafted’ wares for sale. Finished with a tequila tasting and we were offered to purchase a bottle of tequila for $80. (So many requests for money, sales pitches, tips, both on and off the bus!) Approx 2 hour stop. Then on to a buffet lunch at same place. It was what we expected. Back to the bus and on to Chichen Itza. A fellow joined the bus and offered a small homemade bottle of alcohol with your photo on it (he already had them prepared) for $30. Ridiculous. Another sales pitch. We eventually arrived at Chichen Itza and were allowed to spend two hours. By the time everyone got out off the bus, grabbed tickets and were divided into two groups (English and Spanish), 30 mins had passed. There wasn’t nearly enough time to enjoy what we came for. We only got to see a portion of the grounds! We thought the focus of our tour would be on this amazing historical site and instead, they seemed to focus more of their time at the Mayan Village. So very disappointed. At this point, we were all very tired and angry. Our next stop was Valladolid and this was a stop that could had been missed. They dropped us off at a plaza in town for 20 minutes to get a snack. It was dark. Well four or five other tour buses were there and street carts were busy. It was impossible to stand in line and wait and we ended up getting bag of chips which cost a small fortune. We didn’t get an opportunity to walk and see any of the colonial architecture because there was no time and it was dark. All inclusive
We were offered our first beer after Chichen Itza. We asked for a water after the cenote swim and were told no. We had to wait until lunch. Disappointed again. Got another beer in Vallodid for drive home. The additional price of this tour for all inclusive drinks and small breakfast was not worth it at all. At times, communication was poor. Lots of waiting for people that were tardy. The tour itself was way too long. We got dropped off at our stop after 10 pm. Instead of approx 12 hours in length, it was more than 15 hours! Just too long. Definitely would not recommend! Positives
the smiley bus driver (Enrique) for Cancun Bay Tours was awesome and we felt safe. Bus was comfy and cool. Chichen Itza was historical and didn’t disappoint. Only wish we had more time as we missed seeing so much. Beer was cold. Booking operator, Plata Del Carmen Tours was communicative, efficient and answered all my questions. Footnote
we have experienced a range of tours all over the world. (Sydney Opera House, Great Wall of China, Giza Pyramids, Pompeii, Terra Cotta Warriors). This by far was one of the worst and most disappointing tours we have taken.
