Very interesting - The Gallipoli peninsula is located in the southern part of East Thrace, the European part of Turkey, with the Aegean Sea to the west and the Dardanelles strait to the east. Gallipoli is the Italian form of the Greek name "Καλλίπολις", meaning "Beautiful City", the original name of the modern town of Gelibolu.

2 wars, 1 day! - Had an amazing time on what can be a really long day. The driver and tour guide were super accomadating, flexible and friendly. One of the best things about being in a private group was that we could do the day at our own pace and even added in an extra stop at a winery. Doing gallipoli and troy in the same day was definitely manageable and all round was a great experience. Definitely recommend.

I was particularly impressed with the specialist knowledge our tour guide Ali shared with us. Ali's knowledge of the war, the history of the battles and the political environment of the time is exceptional.

We were also spoilt with a define lunch on our way to Troy, which was unique to the Southern regions of Turkey

The trip was considerately done at every point and we found the historical site of Troy fascinating and the visit to Galllipoli moving. Although it is a long day... we did not get back till 8pm...it was very worthwhile and we'd really commend it to anyone who has only a short time to see a lot! Thanks to Travelium, Sevinc Kalik our guide and the driver whose name I've forgotten.

Worth the drive - If you are a history and/or mythology buff you shouldn't miss these sites if in Turkey. Remember Troy is a bronze age ruin so temper any expectations of grand palaces. However the site doesn't disappoint on views of the plain and the Agean beyond, where the seize took place according to Homer. Bring tip money for 2, we had both a driver and a guide. Guide was very nice, his English was average as was his knowledge base. Entry fee to the ruins was not included. No big deal as it's cheap, but it would have been a nice gesture given the cost of the trip. I do recommend the day.
