Pigeon Island National Park, located about 1 km from the coast of Nilaveli near Trincomalee, is a top marine sanctuary in Sri Lanka. The island is named after the rock pigeons that reside there and features some of the country’s most untouched coral reefs and a wide variety of marine life.

Visitors can admire the stunning corals, plants, tropical fish, and turtles, and even spot baby sharks! The shallow and tranquil waters make it perfect for both novice and seasoned snorkelers. The area is also home to green and hawksbill turtles, along with juvenile and adult blacktip reef sharks, providing memorable underwater experiences.
