Highlights
  • Piazza dell’Unita d’Italia - Welcome to Europe’s largest open sea square, spanning 12,280 square meters! The square’s beauty alone makes a visit to Trieste worthwhile, but there are many more attractions to explore!
  • Arco di Riccardo - This ancient Roman gate, likely dating back to the 1st century A.D., was part of the Roman Tergeste’s walls, constructed by Augustus in 33 B.C.
  • Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire - Located atop the hill of the same name, which served as the acropolis of Roman Tergeste and possibly a sacred site. The current five-nave structure was formed in the early 14th century by merging two separate religious complexes.
  • Castello di San Giusto - A key symbol of the city, San Giusto Castle stands on its namesake hill, offering views of the city, its gulf, and hinterland.

The entrance ticket (not included) costs €6, and it’s worth it for the stunning gulf view!

  • Teatro Romano di Trieste - This Roman theatre is situated at the base of San Giusto hill, in the city’s heart, bordering the historic area.
  • Piazza della Borsa - In the 19th century, this square was Trieste’s economic hub. Today, it is an elegant area with several notable buildings and intriguing stories that I will share with you!
  • Chiesa Serbo Ortodossa di San Spiridione - A magnificent building in the city center. The church of St. Spiridione, designed in the shape of a Greek cross, reflects the Byzantine style of eastern churches and features a central dome higher than its four bell towers.
  • Church of Sant’Antonio Nuovo - Commonly known as ‘Sant’Antonio Nuovo,’ it is named after an earlier church from the mid-18th century. Constructed between 1828 and 1849, the new church draws inspiration from the classical grandeur of significant Roman monuments.
  • Canale Grande - The Grand Canal, measuring 370 meters in length and 28 meters in width, is a city symbol. A stroll along its banks is a must!
  • Molo Audace - Gia “Molo S. Carlo” - A 200-meter-long walkway over the sea, perfect for a stroll and fresh air at any time of day or season. Be mesmerized by autumn sunsets that paint the Rive’s palaces red, or if you’re adventurous, brave the 100 km/h bora winds to reach the wind rose’s top and test your endurance!

Brilliant audio guide of the wonderful city of Trieste - I only had one full day in Trieste and this guide allowed me to explore this city and it's wonderful buildings in a quick and easy route. The detail provided on the audio recording of each stop was really detailed. Really good guide and I would highly recommend it to anyone for a short trip to Trieste.

Best of Trieste at your own pace - If you only have a few hours in beautiful Trieste, this tour is ideally suited to seeing all the good places in half a day. It offers the flexibility to go into to venues or not, depending on your desire to see and know more. Best thing was I could do it at my own pace, wander around taking photos, stop for a coffee (or ice cream) and make a detour if I wanted. The audio guide together with the digital map and written copy and pictures was a great way to deliver the info about each stop. The additional info on local food and places to eat was a bonus. Great tour

Pleasant tour - The map is very useful, it allows you to customize the route as you wish. Comprehensive and light guide, with some fun information. Having the list of typical dishes with photos, ingredients and places where they are prepared is exactly what I need.

Nice day in Trieste! - Nice day in Trieste. The city can be visited quickly (one morning in our opinion was enough) but the guide also includes some extra tips just outside the city (car necessary because with transportation it is not so practical). Thanks Matteo also for the support in choosing restaurants!
