• Samnanger Municipality - After traveling for just over 30 minutes, it’s time for a brief pause. We stop at Bjørkheim Cafe, offering a stunning view of the Fjord. Here, you’ll find public restrooms and a cafe. Our stop lasts for 15 minutes.
• Fossen Bratte - Fossen Bratte translates to steep waterfall, and it lives up to its name: The Eikedalselva River cascades down in a single drop of 79 meters. We pause briefly for photos at this waterfall and then drive a few hundred meters along the old road to experience what driving on Norwegian roads was like in the past.
• Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall - The Steinsdalsfossen waterfall near Norheimsund is breathtaking. You can walk behind it without getting wet. Formed in 1699 when the river changed course, it stands approximately 50 meters tall. A path allows you to walk between the rock face and the water without getting wet, making it one of Norway’s most visited waterfalls. Tourist information and public restrooms are conveniently located at the car park. A short path over an old stone arch bridge leads to the waterfall. If you wish, you can visit a cozy café just behind the bridge and enjoy the sound of the stream. We stay here for just under 30 minutes, with only a 10-minute journey to our next stop in Norheimsund.
• Norheimsund - Explore the charming town of Norheimsund, beautifully situated on the Hardangerfjord. Enjoy the scenic views and delightful atmosphere. Norheimsund offers several restaurants and a small shopping center with a bistro. We spend about 45 minutes here, allowing time for a quick lunch break. The driver will indicate where the bus will depart later.
• Kvanndal - After a 40-minute drive along the Hardangerfjord, we arrive at the ferry in Kvandal. The ferry departs at 2 p.m., and the crossing takes just 20 minutes. Bathrooms and a small kiosk are available on the ferry. The upper deck is perfect for taking wonderful photos. It’s a delightful experience.
• Utne - The ferry arrives in Utne. Enter a picturesque wonderland as you reach the enchanting village of Utne on the Hardangerfjord. With its well-preserved streets and traditional wooden houses, Utne offers a rare glimpse into a bygone era. Enjoy the spectacular fjord views, admire the 300-year-old Utne Hotel, and soak in the tranquil ambiance of this hidden gem.
• Herand - We pause in the village of Herand, stopping at a small marina beautifully located on the Hardanger Fjord. There is a self-service kiosk and public restrooms. The journey to the ferry quay in Jondal takes only 15 minutes.
• Hardangerfjord - The drive from Utne to Jondal is a scenic journey along the Hardangerfjord on road 550. The distance between the towns is about 36 km, taking approximately 35 minutes. Along the way, enjoy the stunning scenery and admire the region’s characteristic orchards. This trip is highly recommended for those wishing to explore Norway’s beautiful nature. Photo stops will be made as often as weather and time allow.
• Jondal Municipality - The ferry from Jondal to Tørvikbygd crosses the main arm of the Hardangerfjord. Bathrooms and a self-service café are available on the ferry. You can also access the upper car deck for photos. The landscape is breathtaking. The crossing takes about 20 minutes.
• Tørvikbygd - The ferry docks in Tørvikbygd. From here, we proceed directly to Bergen.
• Bergen - We will return to Bergen Tourist Information at approximately 18:00 (6:00 pm).
