This ceremony is conducted by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Sufi Music and Sema Group in the grand hall where the Şeb-i Arus commemoration ceremonies are also held.
The ceremony includes the noble eulogy to the Prophet Mohammed, a flute solo, a prelude, the Circling of Veled, and four segments (selam), which together form a cohesive whole and embody various Sufi meanings. The Sema Ceremony is performed with traditional Mevlevi music in venues where Mevlevi culture can be authentically conveyed. The ceremony commences with the Noble Eulogy (naat-ı şerif), a composition by Itri that has been performed since the late 17th century. Hymns by composers like Pir Adil Çelebi are sung by a skilled chorus, accompanied by instruments such as the ney (flute), kettledrum, and oud. The works of Rumi, written in Persian, serve as the primary source for the compositions performed by the musicians and singers during the ceremony.
