Join a professional crew aboard a custom-built vessel for snorkeling, an introductory diving with an experienced instructor, or two certified dives in the UNESCO-listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This day trip takes you from Townsville or Magnetic Island to the Central Section of the Great Barrier Reef, where you get the chance to see reef fish, sea turtles, stingrays, reef sharks and more up close. Snorkel equipment is included.
- Minimum age is 6 years for Snorkelling and 12 for Discover Scuba Diving
- Certified divers must present proof of certification to crew on board on the day
- Introductory divers MUST fill out a basic medical form prior to their dive. Some existing medical conditions may not allow you to dive
- Please wear your swimwear and bring a towel, hat, sunscreen and camera
- Heights, weights and shoe sizes MUST be advised at time of booking

Amazing reef, beautiful weather and awesome people! - Early start to the day but totally worth it! It’s about a 3 hour ride there which I was dreading but they provide snacks and get you watching out for whales because it’s whale season at the moment. The crew was extremely helpful, thorough and direct with their instructions and safety measures. I was really glad that they provided snacks as it was a long day out there. They take you out to one spot and you do your first session of snorkelling or scuba-diving, depending on what you choose for your tour activity. You do one session and then you have lunch and then you do another session and then you head home and I personally liked how they split it up. I found the second section to be a lot better as you were closer to the coral in the shallow end and we got to see more statues underwater. We had Katie as our snorkel guide and she was patient and awesome! They also is a choice to get a camera higher which I decided to do for $85, they give you the camera to record on and then they give you the memory card once you leave and I honestly don’t regret it because I was able to get some great footage to show my family back home. There was about 30 people on the boat and it can be overwhelming at first but eventually you mingle and become more comfortable. Overall, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Spectacular John Brewer Reef - John Brewer Reef is a submerged reef at a spectacular location approx 50 miles out into the Coral Sea from Townsville - make sure you have polarised sunglasses to see it at it's best from the boat. Scuba & snorkeling is organised with emphasis on participants' safety. Boat ride is around 2 hours each way but there's plenty of time to dive & snorkel within the reef which is alive with fish. You'll be able to see the sunken Coral Greenhouse, statues & trees ('Ocean's Sentinels') even as you snorkel - if you scuba dive, you be amongst them. There's a lunch platter & refreshments on the boat. All in all, a great day out!

Great diving experience - We did our PADI Open Water dives with Adrenalin, having done the confined water dives in the U.K. We were a family of 4, one snorkelled, three dived. We took two trips with Adrenalin and did 4 dives. The first day the conditions were amazing and the sea was a mill-pond. The second trip was windy with rough seas. Luckily we had all taken sea-sickness pills (Kwells) and even though two of our party have had seasickness in the past, they were OK. The dives themselves went very well. We had John as our instructor on the first day, and he was patient with my daughter (10) who was very nervous, and got her through all the skills for her Junior Scuba Diver certification. Before the trip she wasn’t sure if she would dive on day 2 or snorkel, but she enjoyed it so much she decided to dive again. The second day we had Billy to get my son and I through our Open Water Diver certifications, who was great even though he was unwell on the way out himself. My daughter dived with Cassie, who held her hand and she had a great day!
On both trips we saw whales on the way out. On the reef, between us, our party saw reef shark, grouper, barracudas, sea cucumbers, giant clams, a porcupine fish, a parrot fish and many more fish and coral. The MOUA was interesting as well and we enjoyed swimming through the sunken greenhouse. Thank you Adrenalin Dive!

Check the weather when booking!! - The crew, the boat, equipment, light lunch and the instruction were all excellent.
However, be aware if you go on a bad weather day this trip will be torment - 2 hours forty minutes each way through rough seas on aluminum benches with people being sick. The snorkelling site will be barely suitable due to wind and strong water current.
Not sure what the solution is - I guess pre book only a couple days out when you can check the forecast and be assured of good weather, otherwise it’s an expensive way to be miserable for a day.

It was a great day out... - It was a great day out and we're so glad we got to see the Great Barrier Reef but you have to be aware that it's 2.5 hours each way to get to the reef and back. It's a fast, rough boat ride. The crew were fantastic, very knowledgable and helpful. We had a guided snorkel for our first session which was very informative and built up my confidence in the water. Second session we explored all over and saw millions of fish, beautiful corals and clams and parts of the MOUA. If your only chance to get to the reef is from Townsville then I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

Be prepared for angry ocean - The tour did nothing wrong- the staff was nice and accommodating, but the weather made the 3 hour boat ride to and from the reef absolutely unbearable. Half of the guests got sick. The reef itself was so wavy and the current was so strong that you could not even move. The second session, they moved us to the other side of the boat where the waves were even bigger- we stayed out for 5 minutes. They did warn us that it might be rough, but their warnings were not sufficient. Do not go if the waves are high- it was not worth it. Make sure you leave yourself an extra day so you can reschedule if it is rough and do it.
