Day 1: Baltra – Santa Cruz – Highlands Visit – Lava Tunnels (Rancho El Chato or Primicias)
12:30 Arrival at Baltra Airport. A guide from the Galapagos National Park will greet you and direct you to the buses for transfer to the Itabaca Canal. Ferries will then take you to Santa Cruz Island, where you will board the operator’s buses to begin the…
Day 1: Baltra – Santa Cruz – Highlands Visit – Lava Tunnels (Rancho El Chato or Primicias)
12:30 Arrival at Baltra Airport. A guide from the Galapagos National Park will greet you and direct you to the buses for transfer to the Itabaca Canal. Ferries will then take you to Santa Cruz Island, where you will board the operator’s buses to begin the journey to the island’s highlands. Here, you will visit Rancho Primicias or Chato II, a remarkable place where you can see turtles in their natural habitat and enjoy a delightful country lunch. The tour continues to the Lava Tunnels, formed by volcanic activity. You will walk approximately 100 meters inland, where the guide will explain the types of volcanic eruptions that shaped the islands. Transfer to the hotel, room assignment, dinner, and accommodation.
Day 2: Bartolome and Sullivan Bay
07:00 A Galapagos National Park Naturalist Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Ayora. You will travel 35 minutes by bus to the Itabaca Canal, where the Yate Nautilus will be waiting with breakfast ready. A two-hour navigation to Bartolome Island follows, where you can observe endemic birds and dolphins in season (Dec to Mar). Bartolome, located in the northwest of the archipelago, is a Galapagos icon known for its stunning scenery. You will hike to the island’s summit to view the diverse landscape, including various volcanic cones, lava lizards, and marine iguanas. A panga ride around the Pinnacle, a rock formation over 100 meters high, offers a chance to see Galapagos penguins nesting at the base, as well as sea lions and crabs. After lunch on the yacht, visit Sullivan Bay on Santiago Island to observe recent lava flows and possibly see Galapagos penguins. Enjoy some beach time before returning to Puerto Ayora by bus at 17:00.
Day 3: Isabela Island Visit: Tour Tintoreras Island, Breeding Center, and Wetlands
07:00 Begin a two-hour navigation to Isabela Island, the largest in the archipelago. Visit the Arnaldo Tupiza Breeding Center to see reptiles up close, perfect for photography. Explore the island’s wetlands to observe endemic birds, swimming marine iguanas, and Isabela Island’s iconic pink flamingos. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Tintoreras Island for a short navigation (20 minutes) and a walk to see nesting marine iguanas, the Tintoreras channel, and sea lions. Enjoy snorkeling in Bahia de las Tintoreras, swimming with Galapagos penguins, sea lions, sea turtles, and white-tipped sharks. Return to the hotel by 15:00.
Day 4: Full Day Snorkel at Los Túneles and Cabo Rosa
11:00 The National Park Naturalist Guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the waiting yacht. A 45-minute boat ride brings you to Los Finados, where the first snorkeling session takes place. The guide will lead you through small volcanic tubes formed thousands of years ago. The water is crystal clear and shallow, allowing you to see White Fin Sharks, Galapagos Sharks, Sea Lions, and seahorses. After lunch on the yacht, the second snorkeling session occurs at Los Túneles, where you can swim among small islands that serve as nesting sites for sharks and sea turtles. The calm waters make it ideal for swimming with children. Return to Puerto Villamil at 17:00, where the tour operator will drop you off at your hotel.
Day 5: Tour to Volcan Sierra Negra and Volcan Chico, Navigation to Santa Cruz Island
07:00 The National Park Naturalist Guide will pick you up from the hotel. After a bus ride, the first stop is Sierra Negra Volcano. A 1 hour and 45-minute hike to the caldera offers stunning views of the western part of the island, Fernandina Island, and the Bolivar Channel, home to the largest Galapagos animals. Enjoy a box lunch at the volcano viewpoint before continuing to Chico Volcano. This walk features fumaroles, various lava types, and beautiful landscapes. Return to the starting point with a two-hour walk, then head back to Puerto Villamil. The operator will drop you off at your hotel. At 14:30, navigate to Santa Cruz Island, a two-hour journey, arriving at the hotel by 17:30.
Day 6: Daily Tour to North Seymour and Playa Bachas
07:00 Depart from Puerto Ayora. The National Park Naturalist Guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Itabaca Canal, a 35-minute bus ride away. Board the Yate Nautilus for a 45-minute sail to North Seymour Island. Here, a 50-minute to 1-hour hike allows you to observe nesting Red-breasted Frigatebirds, Blue-footed Boobies, and majestic land iguanas in their natural state. North Seymour is a key island to visit in the northern part of the archipelago, with a large colony of boobies and frigate birds nesting year-round. After lunch on the yacht, disembark at Bachas Beach for snorkeling and relaxation. Swim with sea lions and sea turtles, and during the nesting season (Nov to Feb), observe them on the beach. A walk to a small lagoon offers views of flamingos and endemic birds. Return to the hotel by 17:00.
Day 7: Visit Tortuga Bay Beach and Darwin Station
08:00 The guide will pick you up from your hotel for a 50-minute walk to the beach, where you can observe Galapagos finches, pelicans, and nesting marine iguanas, along with small reef sharks. After lunch at a restaurant, visit the Darwin Station for a 40-minute walk to see Giant Tortoises in captivity, marine iguanas in their natural habitat, and the embalmed Lonesome George in a special exhibit. Conclude with a visit to a beautiful beach for relaxation.
Day 8: Visit Los Gemelos and Transfer to Baltra Airport
The guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Los Gemelos, large volcanic craters formed millions of years ago. A short walk allows you to observe finches feeding. Finally, the guide will escort you to the airport for your check-in.
