- Tokyo - This program offers a delightful blend of Japanese tradition and engaging hands-on activities. The main attraction is crafting your own unique uchiwa (Japanese fan). By using pressed flowers and Japanese-patterned origami paper, participants can create a personalized uchiwa to cherish as a memorable keepsake. This activity is inspired by the Japanese tradition of valuing nature and plants.
Following the crafting session, participants can enjoy a cup of matcha latte accompanied by two types of wagashi. The matcha latte is prepared by blending powdered matcha with milk, resulting in a creamy and mild beverage — ideal for newcomers or even children.
For the sweets, participants will sample two distinctive creations:
Monaka – a classic Japanese confection made with crisp wafers. In this version, it is presented in a contemporary style by adding custard cream, mochi, and a selection of dried fruits as toppings. Even those who are not fond of sweet red bean paste can appreciate this variation.
Kokedama-inspired sweet – Kokedama translates to “moss ball,” a Japanese gardening technique where plants are cultivated in a ball of soil covered with moss. This dessert is crafted to resemble an adorable little moss ball.
Through both crafting and tasting, participants will enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable way to immerse themselves in Japanese culture.
