Explore the Isle of Mull’s rugged beauty on a guided farm hike. Meet Highland ponies, Shetland sheep, and experience Scottish Hebridean farming life.

Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Tobermory - We’re on a hill farm, so unsurprisingly, there aren’t any listed ‘tourist’ sites on our guided walks (hence why I had to select Tobermory as the attraction). The walk starts at the entrance to The Fauld Farm just outside Tobermory then we head up on to Meadow Ridge (so called because it’s covered in a carpet of wild flowers in spring…

Greatest tour ever - Best tour of my trip. Such a magical, beautiful place with great animals and great visibility and such a warm guide! Would recommend it 100 percent to everyone who comes to Mull. It's really so worth it. I would even say in my top 3 holiday experiences now ranked No. The photos cannot reproduce the whole thing properly at all.

Great fun whilst super informative and interesting. - Karen was a great host - showing us her wonderful farm. Very knowledgeable about plants, islands, animals and farming in the wilds of Mull. The weather was poor but she still managed to make the visit very informative and enjoyable. The Highlands ponies, tame Shetland sheep and views were great. Highly recommend for something different.

Stunning island, sea and mainland views - Absolutely stunning views - with relatively modest effort - over Tobermory, along the sound of Mull and over to the mainland at Morven and Ardnamurchan. Karen provided fascinating insights into the ecology, plants, wildlife and livestock on this little gem of a farm. I would highly recommend.

A great morning on Mull - My two adult children and I hiked about the Fauld Mull with owner Karen and loved every minute of it. The weather was not the greatest throughout (hey, it’s Scotland…) so we had Karen, the sheep and ponies to ourselves and are so happy we went. Dress appropriately and you’ll be happy too, rain or shine. Can’t wait to return someday. ❤️🙂

Great Way to Learn About Northern Mull - Great day on The Fauld with Karen today! Thank you for the tour of your wee farm and allowing us to hike your land with you as guide. It was so beautiful and I learned a lot. Thanks also to you for doing your best to preserve the farm and its surrounds, it is a treasure! Many blessings to you and yours!

Lovely Farm Hike on the Isle of Mull! - My partner and I spent a little over a week in Scotland, and touring The Fauld Farm with Karen was definitely the highlight of our trip! Even with a little rain, our hike was a fun and magical experience. Walking through wildflowers, up and down hills along the water with sheep and horses around us was a true dream (and we even got a rainbow during our time on the farm!). Karen is such a kind and engaging guide; her stories about the farm, the wildlife, and Mull in general were a treat to hear. She and her husband clearly put their heart and soul into the farm, and that is reflected in the hike. We ended with a delicious snack and were given some great pointers on what to do with our remaining time on Mull (including where to find the best deal on shortbread!). If you are planning a trip to Scotland, please please please do yourself a favor, and schedule a hike at The Fauld Farm!!

The Best Hidden Gem of the Isle of Mull - Our trip to Fauld Farm was unforgettable and the highlight of our time on Mull. The weather was unpredictable but that just made the experience all the better. Definitely wear appropriate clothing and boots for whatever the weather will be. From rain to sunshine to rainbows, hiking with Karen on her farm provided not only spectacular views but a version of Mull that you won’t get in the more touristy experiences. Her knowledge of the local flora and fauna is unmatched as well as the history of the land and farm. The hike is not difficult, but it does take some physical capabilities and balance. Whether you are traveling from near or far, I highly recommend this experience to see a local side of Mull that you can’t get from travel agencies or tour groups. Not only would you be supporting a local business thrive but the time and effort that Karen has put into this experience is clear and provides a wonderful experience that I wish everyone could experience.
