Great experience, no regrets - We had an amazing night kayaking the moonlit calm ocean. Our guide, Paul, was very caring, friendly and knowledgeable; you could see his passion for nature. Although the moon was very bright, we still saw many different types of bioluminescence which were magical - like natural glitter. The whole experience was very meditative and peaceful. We had a lovely time and I would recommend it if you like kayaking.

They do a great job! - This was really amazing- we saw lots of "blue"! It was really easy kayaking even for a novice and having a local guide was also nice. Note you cant take pictures though without a long exposure set up

Magical experience - The bioluminescence tour was easily the most unique experience during my trip to NZ. Seeing the bioluminescence under a blanket of stars was absolutely mesmerizing. Guides Sam and Katie were friendly and informative; they made sure everyone had proper gear, after the safety briefing we went out and had an amazing time!

Great Experience - I went on this tour back in 2023 (ignore date I selected above) & realized I never wrote a review! The tour was fantastic - our guide Ryan was very knowledgeable and everyone was very friendly. It was one of my favorite moments during my trip to NZ. Definitely recommend!

Bioluminescence Kayak Tour - Est. 1994 - I went with my friend and we didnt see anything like the photos. Nothing on the water maybe because the moon and I asked the guide if we would see it on the beach like the photo and they said they have never seen it like that where we were.

Moon was bright - The moon was so bright it was shining so much down in the water it felt like daylight. Not recommend going during moon in the heavens or god will shine the big torch on you and you cant see the glowing lights in the water

Operator changes frustrating - Frustrating operator that advertises "Waiake Beach" as the meeting location (or quote: "different locations near Waiake Beach") yet changes you to a location manually via email to what was for us at least a 10min drive. I wouldn't define "near" as 10mins drive. Frustrating when people have prior plans, you only give 12hrs (we received less notice than this) and when weather can be predicted reliably more than 12hr out
