Fun day with a great guide - Sergio was a great tour guide! He was so enthusiastic and shared great facts. This tour takes you to small lake towns where locals hang out. The time spend at Lake Chapala was just enough. Lunch was delicious. And a quick drive through tour of Ajijic to end the day.

Very happy to recommend Amigo Tours - We took two tours with Amigo Tours in Guadalajara, Lake Tapala and Ajijic and the Tequila Tour the next day. We also used them twice in Mexico City. We found them to be completely reliable, their guides were informative and fun so we had 4 enjoyable and interesting days out with them on our Mexican trip. An especial mention to Carmen who led both our tours in Guadalajara. She has a great personality and sense of humour and provided us with a lot of information, and I have to say a lovely singing voice when she gave us a rendition of a Vicente Fernandez song ! And not forgetting the drivers who were great too. We’ll be recommending Amigo to friends who are planning to visit Mexico.

An enjoyable day - I enjoyed this tour. To start the day I was picked up by the tour bus, not at my hotel, but at the house North of the city where I was staying. I thought that this was a really exceptional service as I didn't expect them to come so far to get me. Once we had collected the rest of the tourists (six of us in total), we headed for Chapala with a stop along the way at the ranch of Vicente Fernández and the biggest cowboy shop in the country. We then headed to Chapala where we had some time to walk around and explore, before heading to Ajijic (with a stop along the way to view the Presidential compound) where we had more time to walk around, and then to an organised lunch by the lake and a boat ride, before we turned around and came back to Guadalajara (with a roadside stop where we were able to buy local sweets) where I was dutifully dropped off at where I was staying. As with all tours, to some extent the enjoyment of it hinges on the group that you are with. I booked the tour in English however as four out of the six people in the tour group only spoke Spanish this meant the tour was bilingual. This was fine, but obviously meant there wasn't a lot of bonding/conversation between the tour-goers, and it did involve some standing around while the tour guide explained for four people in Spanish and then two people in English. This is no criticism of the guide at all, he really did a fantastic job. The structure of the tour however gave the tourists 1.5 hours to wander around Chapala and 1 hour in Ajijic, which was lovely but as a solo traveller it would have been nice to wander with the rest of the tour group - a hard thing to do when you have no common language between you. This is but a minor criticism and overall I had a nice day. I think given the amount of free time there is to roam by oneself it would be a nice tour to take as part of a group, but as a solo traveller I maybe would have enjoyed something more "structured" as tours go with more information about the place we were visiting and what we were seeing rather than just being dropped off to walk around the towns on ones own. Nevertheless, an enjoyable day.

Only an hour and a half in Chapala - The tour guide and the mini-bus driver were top notch. It would have been helpful at the start of the tour to know the itinerary, because our party ended up eating lunch at Chapala because we did not know that we were scheduled to eat later on in the afternoon, and so we missed lots of Chapala. Also, I understand why the tour bus makes stops at Vicente Fernandez house and the lady selling candies and sweets but I would rather have had more time in Chapala.
