A highlight of our Southern Balkans trip - We had an exceptional time on this tour, largely because of our stand-out guide Dori. Dori is a very keen climber, and his passion and love for the Albanian Alps was evident. With his experience and knowledge of the area and weather conditions in the Mounts we always felt we were safe. He treated us as guests (not just tourists) to his wonderful country, and he filled our time together with stories of his life and adventures. I mentioned many times through-out the 3 days, that I was so glad he was there to direct and guide us. Although the hike itself is entirely possible to organise yourself, having someone to navigate the long drives, the bus and ferry transfer, and the accommodation was invaluable for us. We ended up doing the tour in reverse, starting with Skroder & Theth, with the Blue Eye of Theth on the first day. As warned by Dori, the weather in the Alps is unpredictable and during the Blue Eye walk we experienced a thunder and hailstorm. Luckily we were protected by cover along the way, and although this might of dejected us, the sound of the heavy rain, the fog when the rain cleared, and the lack of people at the Blue Eye were all magical. Starting in Theth, we ended up hiking the Theth -> Valbona directionality which I am super thankful for, as the ascent from Theth was gentler and more shaded. The hike itself is stunning and photos don't really do it justice. Regarding Go As Local, all our queries (about luggage storage and changes to our trip dates) were answered promptly by Riserd. Thank you Riserd :) Overall, the guest houses were satisfactory. Our accommodation in Theth was a little more basic, whereas in Valbona it was newer and more modern. All hosts were hospitable and welcoming. Both accommodations served delicious dinners and breakfast (even enjoyed some local Raki!) Keep in mind: - Bring warm jackets!! Even in the peak of summer, when it's 30+ degrees C in Tirana, the mountains do get chilly! The Theth/Valbona Pass is especially windy and when you've sweated heavily on the ascent, that sweat gets cool fast. - In peak holiday season, expect to spend a long time sitting in traffic in/out of Tirana, and around Skroder. Additionally, the road to/from the Koman lake ferry is very windy and rough. Bring medication if you are prone to car-sickness. Overall, extremely happy we booked this trip!

Amazing visit to the Albanian Alps - I went on a 3 day tour to the Albanian Alps with Go As Local. It was fantastic. The scenery was amazing. Great itinerary which included the ferry ride across lake Komani, the trek from valbona to Theth and the very beautiful drive back to Tirana. The organisation was smooth, the accommodation was of a high standard and the food was amazing. I couldn’t fault anything. Great price as well. I communicated with Riserd in the office and he was super efficient and helpful (and patient) when I was booking the tour. Thank you Riserd!

3 Day tour and Hike Valbona & Teth Albania - My wife and I booked the 3 day hike from Teth to Valbona through Viator however one can book directly with the company Go as Local in Tirane. We were picked up from our hotel by Angel who drove us to Teth but stopping at Shkorda . He was very frienfly, helpful and knowledgeable. The road to Teth is very narrow ab=nd steep. Angel was a great driver and got us there safely. Hethen took us in a small hike to the Blue Eye whitch is a large pool of water icy cold fed from the mountain spring. Water was blue in colour. We spent the night at a delightful guesthouse in Teth. Our group was 5 in number, At Teth we were joined by Daniel who was to be our guide. The following morning Daniel gave us a short history of the area and then we were off. We climbed 1800 m and traversed almost 10 km in 6.5 hours, Daniel was a fantastic guide, so helpful and knowledgeable. To do the hike you need to be at the very minimum moderately fit as the climb is steep. I found it difficult but doable. There are 2 "bars" along the way where we stopped for a rest. The downhill nto Valbona was also not easy as the gradient is steep and there are many rocks where one can slip. Arriving in Valbona we again stayed at great guesthouse. Meals were good at both places. Daniel is a great racanteur and made the whole experience something that i will treasure The 3rd day we took a ferry on Kapon )?) Lake where on disembarking we were met by Angel. Daniel & Ange took usback to our hotels but not before stopping for a late lunch. Our group was 5 in number and we all got on well . Daniel & Angel were fantastic guides who made the whole trip great. Ordinarily the hike is from Valbona to Teth but on this occasion it was done in reverse order.
