Highlights

10095 E Alsea Hwy - Come howl with us! White Wolf Sanctuary is only ten miles from HWY 101 on the Oregon Coast! Our tour experience begins at our two-mile dirt road off of Alsea Highway and the scenic Alsea River. Guests will be escorted, in their own vehicles, to the top of the mountain where White Wolf Sanctuary is located. Everyone will then convene on our large deck that is surrounded by forested wolf habitats, wild ravens and the ambiance of the natural world for a 45-minute interactive presentation about wolves and their place as apex predators. After the presentation, a guided tour of the sanctuary will give guests the opportunity to visit each wolf’s habitat and learn their story. The hike around the sanctuary is magical at times with the coastal mist moving through the trees with the sound of ravens and the song of the wolves. The wolves are in spacious enclosed habitats where they are allowed to move freely. With wild wolf populations increasing in the state of Oregon this is a tour you won’t want to miss. There is a small gift shop and restroom facilities. Tours last two hours and operate rain or shine.

Shades of Grey - My wife and I really enjoyed the experience. Nicole was extremely knowledgeable and shared that knowledgeable with all of us. Although there were only 4 wolves at the sanctuary at the time we were able to see 3 of them and learn about their past as well as their future. We would visit again.

Awe struck! - The knowledge of the tour guide was fascinating and a fun way to become aware of the facts vs. the myths of the wolves. It was wonderful to see how well the wolves are being supported and protected.

Happy pack! - My husband and I brought our kids ages 8 and 12 and we all learned so much. Both our kids love animals, our youngest probably didn’t grasp as much as our 12 yo but she still enjoyed it. Our educator was friendly and passionate about the teaching. It was amazing to be able to see the wolves from a short distance. There were only 4 wolves at the time of our visit, sadly, we learned that 2 had just passed due to old age. It would have been awesome to see more but the ones that were present allowed us to see each of their personalities. There was a couple there outside of our group that was also in attendance, their car was not an AWD/4WD so the guide gave them a lift in her car up the bumpy terrain to the destination from the meeting spot. Thank you WWS for the great experience!

Great visit with the wolves! - We visited with two friends and really had a fantastic time. We found the educational part of the tour to be interesting and well presented, especially while sitting on a porch with a wolf lying on the other side of the fence! And then we got to walk next to the enclosures. The wolves keep their distance, but still let you see them quite well. The enclosures are pretty big so I guess we were lucky to see all four, but one we only caught a glimpse.. Understand that they only have 4 right now, but that is because they only take in wolves that cannot go into the wild. We also loved the conservation message they spread.

Ok but overpriced - For $75, you get an educational lecture and a brief tour where you can see 2-3 wolves from a distance. (You can see the photos in other reviews to get an idea of what that's like.) To be fair, it was a good lecture, given by a volunteer with 15 years of experience and lots of knowledge of the history and current status of wolves in the US. If you really, really love wolves and want a chance to talk to someone who has worked with them for years, then this is a great opportunity. However, if what you really want is to see animals, there are better values for your time and money. For comparison, the Oregon Coast Aquarium (in Newport) is $30, the Oregon Zoo (in Portland) is $24, the Wildlife Safari (in Winston) is $24, and Great Cats World Park (in Cave Junction) is $21. (Prices are for one adult admission and are current as of July 2024.)

I understand this is a... - I understand this is a wildlife reserve for the wolves , but for the high prices, I was expecting to see more of the wolves. One only saw the one white wolf that was obviously in the small hot hot pen so we could say we saw one ! It was a very hot day also so that may be why they were hiding . I just think you should have more interaction with them somehow for the price ! The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable !
