Located south of Tianshui, it’s a 45-minute drive from the city. The grottoes, initially constructed in the 4th century, were a significant Buddhist site along the ancient Silk Road. There are 196 caves with 1,300 square meters of preserved wall paintings. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Fuxi Temple, built in the 15th century during the Ming Dynasty. The temple houses a statue of Fuxi, who is regarded as an ancestor by the Chinese people from ancient times.
