- Tianjin - The tour begins from the hotel lobby in Beijing, where a private car will take guests to the Huangyaguan Great Wall, located 80 miles from Beijing, with a 2.5-hour drive. A tour guide will accompany visitors on the Great Wall. Huangyaguan is a stunning and natural section of the wall, less crowded by tourists. Although it is a restored part of the Wall, the scenery is breathtaking, offering an indescribable sense of tranquility. The hike lasts about 2 hours, concluding at the statue of General Qi. Following the hike, a late lunch will be enjoyed at a local farmer’s restaurant, featuring a country-style meal and cold beer.
Afterward, the tour continues to the West Qing Tombs, which are imperial burial sites. With the guide’s presentation, visitors will explore one of the emperor’s tombs. The Qing Tombs are a world heritage site, where 4 emperors, 9 empresses, 57 concubines, 8 princes, and 2 princesses are interred. The above-ground structures are grand and beautiful, and visitors can also explore the underground palace. The guide will share stories of each emperor and recount how the tombs of an emperor and a concubine were robbed. The tour concludes with a transfer back to the hotel in Tianjin.

The International Field Marathon has been held at the Huangyaguan Great Wall since 1999. This section of the Great Wall was originally constructed over 1,400 years ago during the Northern Qi Dynasty (557 A.D.) and was later reinforced with brick walls during the Ming Dynasty. In 1984, extensive repairs were carried out on more than 3 kilometers of the wall, including 20 water towers and one water pass. It was designated as a protected relics site in 1986 and recognized as a key relics protection site in Tianjin. Today, it stands as one of Tianjin’s major tourist attractions. On the return trip to the city, visitors can also visit the Qing emperor’s tombs.
