Experience the opportunity to hear and play the ancient Greek lyre, a musical instrument invented thousands of years ago! How will this be achieved?
First, participants will explore the sound and aesthetics of a reconstructed ancient Greek lyre, learn about the music system of antiquity, and play the lyre on the spot! Following this, they will learn to play the “Epitaph of Seikilos,” the oldest complete melody (with lyrics) that has survived to this day. Participants will quickly discover that this ancient musical instrument is much easier to learn than a guitar or most modern instruments, which is likely why it was used as a teaching tool for nearly every young person in ancient Greece.

What will be offered?
Each participant will be provided with an ancient Greek lyre during this experience. These are unique musical instruments, handcrafted by the world-renowned niche brand Luthieros. No prior musical education is required. For professional musicians, this experience can be tailored to their skill level!
